Ok Im going to go out on a limb on this one... Nintendo announcing Wii Motion Plus was better for the hardcore gamer than them announcing a game everyone wants such as a Kid Icarus or whatnot... Sure we could have had one great game but this instead gives every game from here on out a chance to be so much better than it would have been otherwise. So we wont have a new DK platformer or some new IP this year, what we will have is many better games over the rest of the Wii's lifespan. That is a trade that I would be very happy to take.

I know several of you are going to say "Why should I have to pay for something that should have been in there to begin with?" Well first off perfect 1:1 was never promised but more importantly the Wii is the first its kind, generally the first gen of something like this has its problems but they arent fixed until the next generation... the fact that Nintendo is improving it in the middle of the gen instead of making us wait till next gen is freakin great.

There is no limit to the games that can be improved by this. Red Steel 2 might not suck now. Zack and Wiki uses the wiimote very well but just imagine what they could do if they made a 2nd one. Boxing on the wii might become enjoyable. The list could just go on and on.

Wii motion plus and wii speak may be awesome but I was hoping for some of nintendo's stronger franchise games. Animal Crossing was the only interesting game to me.

Does anyone know if you can plug the Nun-chuck into the Motion+. Because I don't think its going to be very useful if you can't.

It wont be coming out till spring 09. So we have a while till we see it used in games that appeal to core players.

I dont know, the Wii Motion Plus just doesnt seem like it is a needed at the moment. Not very many games are going to be actually using it IMO. Only stuff like WiiSports and WiiMusic. WiiSpeak im happy for, and also Animal Crossing, just dont think I can justify spending $50 for an extra attachment to my controller. Maybe if it's like $10-$15 I would get it.

Maybe you were thinking of WiiSpeak instead? lol.

BTW, now we have some hope for Red Steel 2's sword fighting -- with Wii MotionPlus, it'll be great.

I'm sure that devs will get their hands on it before we do. They might have known about it for some time.

I dont understand why Nintendo had to release this. I always thought the accuracy of the Wii-mote depended on developer. I feel like this peripheral is a cop-out for lazy developers or those unable to get the Wii-mote as accurate as the developer would wish.

I agree, assuming it doesn't cost a fortune and it's actually put to good use. I really like the Wii, but the Wiimote is definitely limited, and I've always kinda felt like it wasn't designed well. Hopefully this thing will make it all better.

No. Wii peripherals are quickly talked about and quickly forgotten. If they bundle Wii Motion Plus with the new Wii units standard, and offer to send them to all current customers then I could see developers taking this serious.

But as it stands the devs won't know if the user has Wii Motion Plus or not, so they will either have to program controls for each configuration or just revert back to the standard out of box (No Motion Plus). Devs barely program for Wii's current control options... let alone double. Requiring a game to have the Motion Plus is a bad idea too. Nothing like trying to get your game to the minority of Wii owners or asking for complaints when the game doesn't work without it.

Thus this is nothing more than fancy talk to make people go buy more peripherals that won't add up to anything by $20+ in Nintendos pocket. When it comes out standard, and is shipped to the current install base I'll pay attention. For now I see right though Nintendos plan and I'm not giving them money for nothing anymore.

I'm excited for this. If you've ever played Madden for Wii you understand how difficult and unresponsive passing can be some times. I usually find myself whipping the Wiimote forward over and over again just to get the pass to register, and this ritual usually ends in a sack with one of my wide receivers twenty yards open downfield. Sometimes I find that I have to swing twice in Wii Sports tennis.

Anything that makes gameplay better for the wii and make me stop questioning the use for motion controls when regular controls would be less frustrating is a great addition.

Driving games will be dramatically improved, as you will have a tight control, not the sloppy loose feeling of ExciteTruck etc.

I was going to buy Tiger Woods this year, but based on this announcement I suspect I will be holding out for the 2010 edition.

Nevermind, I have several years of backlog to wade through.

You definitely can as reggie used the nunchuk for the water skiing game in Wii Sports Resort

I kind of agree with this topic but I'll have to wait and see until games come out for it to see if it is worth it

does this wiimotion plus mean that movements would be almost 100% accurate??? like if u swung the wiimote over ur head then on screen a sword for example would match exactly what u did.
