I just played both Grand Slam Tennis and Tigerwoods 2010. The controls are very nice indeed. It feels real. The more you play the game like it was real the better. When golfing, hold the wiimote like a golf club, look down at the floor and pretend you are aiming at the ball. Perform the swing and follow through like you would a real club. The speed and strength of your down swing is all important on how far your ball will travel.Any twist of the wrist will draw or fade your ball accordingly. With tennis, go for full swings and put your weight into it for a strong shot, or be gentle and drop shot the ball right over the net. I just tried two player mode with my bother...it feels like you are playing real tennis. Excellent stuff.

That is great to hear actual players enjoying the game. I'm curious about both games but don't want to drop the $$ for them right now.

Thanks for the impressions.

Two questions,

Where did you pick up the games?

Do you have to press a button while swinging to do a drop shot, there was some confusion from conflicting reports on that?

Thanks again.

Yes, you have to press B for drop shot and A for lobs, but your are definately controlling ball placement and spin and strength of the shot. I bought the games at Gamestop.

Sounds great! I just question why Nintendo didnt already have this great control when the Wii first launched. They more than likely could have, but decided to wait a couple years for M+to make more money.

Ugh, I can't wait to get Tiger Woods PGA '10.

Why is it that all of the good third party games are coming out now?

How is the putting? Tiger Woods 09 lacked a good putting mechanic. How does it work?

That's the reason they waited.

GS mostly waits 1 month before they review a wii game that way every one can buy it before they read the review

just played a whole 18 holes in the new tiger woods and i loved every moment of it. it's not quite one on one, but a slight delay doesn't ruin the game. the game is awesome and the Frisbee is a tight add on too. go check it out guys.

This Wii motion plus does make it sound like you have to have a strong interest in the types of games you play. I'm pretty casual when it comes to sports games. Especially with golf games. I mean i've played a fair few of the Tiger woods games in the past, but it's almost as if the term 'accessibility' has been forgotten with Wii motion plus. I don't really want a 100% accurate representation of golf, I want something that's easy to pick up and doesn't demand all of your time to master. I hope that's something new games don't forget.

Im going to hear you out on this one. You got to keep in mind that the motion plus is improving the realistic feel of the game, but at the same time, they are still keeping the easy to pick up and master concept they have always had. Making it more realistic, dosen't have to be harder. Im sure there will still be the incredible rounds of 40, but the accuracy of the swing will feel a lot more realistic, even if the scores aren't.

I'm curious about this too. I'd assume its the software, making golf true 1:1 would make it maybe too difficult for the mainstream crowd? Tennis as well. The impressions of Wii Sports Resort, especially the sword fighting were positive across the board at E3. Yet some impressions with sword fighting in Red Steel 2 at E3 were mixed. So in that case you know there's going to be differences based on the software.

its always the software, take the normal wiimote as an example, not all games had bad motion controles, some like metroid had excelent controles,

but its diffrent with the motion+ with tennis and golf, which would basicly be like playing it yourself, so i guess the casual crowed would have problems with this.

I would agree. It's always the software. I'd like to add that there will never be such a thing as "true 1:1" unless the software knows or can predict your actions. The delay will be less noticeable as technology advances.

It is really fun. You really feel like you are determining what type, strength, and the direction of your swings. It takes a while to get the hang of it but once you do it is really awesome.

i think it's the game. the hardware is awesome. when you play the frisbee game, you can see every single movement with the frisbee. maybe, ea didn't have the wii motion plus long enough to make it a true one on one, but im not complaining.

I rented Grand Slam Tennis today and I gotta say, so far I'm kinda dissapointed with the Wiimotion+ controls. I can't seem to get the kind of shot I want the majority of the time.

On the plus side, online works great. I played against two randoms in two separate matches and there was no lag at all.

Hopefully I will adjust to the controls and get the hang of it, but right now, I'm just hoping Tiger Woods is a lot better.

In some ways your right. It does represent your actual skills better than the regular remote. I've noticed my putting is a little worse right now, cause I'm a horrible putter in real life. However some things are more accessible. Things actually work right 100% of the time. I know i've had my parents play Tiger woods '09 and sometimes it won't register swings or register it really wrong, which is very frustrating to casuals. Wii motion plus fixes that. The motions you perform are the ones you would really do so its easy to get into a game, although maybe not as easy to master.

Wow. I'm releived. That's so good to hear. I'm kinda wanting to buy these games now, but I'll probably buy WM+ when Wii Sports Resort comes out. I just hope the controls for the sword game are accurate. Cause if they are, that probably means they will be in the new Zelda Wii project too. Like for instance, if you rotate the sword while you swing it, it can detect that too. Like if you swing the sword in the figure of a "U" or "C", it can detect that, and the exact way you did it too. That's what the WM+ is meant for, right?

Have most of you left the wii motion plus in the rubber sleve? Or have you taken it out? Reason I ask, is I can not charge my wii-motes with my Nyko charger if its in that rubber sleve.

I mean I read the IGN review, and I trust those guys, and they say that you do eventually get the hang of it, so I'm guessing I just have to play some more. I'm also thinking that maybe my Wiimotion+ wasn't calibrated properly. If I were you, I would wait till IGN reviews Virtua Tennis. That might help you make your decision.

Actually as long as you buy WM+ anywhere but Gamestop you'll only pay $60 for Wiimote+ . Gamestop charges $5 more for the WM+ units, just like they do for Wii steering wheels.

I just spent a bit of time with Virtua Tennis 2009 and I think I like it better than GST. The controls just seem to work better. And if you play without the nunchuk, the AI is smarter for setting you up for your next shot. I haven't tried online yet, so that may be a problem, because GST's online does work quite well.

To any of you who have problems getting into MotionPlus controls for Grand Slam Tennis:

How are you holding the Wiimote? Over at GBAtemp, people agreed that when you hold it out in front of you (like everyone is used to from Wii Sports) and then try to hit the ball, the MotionPlus controls are very crappy, but if you actually position yourself like the Game tells you to: Slightly sideways, holding the Wiimote "A" button up parallel to the TV, and then swing your arm back and hit the ball when the Wiimote is parallel to the TV again, it's supposed to work great. Larger, more excessive motions at a "realistic" angle to the playing field.

Anyone care to try it out?

I just spent a bit of time with Virtua Tennis 2009 and I think I like it better than GST. The controls just seem to work better. And if you play without the nunchuk, the AI is smarter for setting you up for your next shot. I haven't tried online yet, so that may be a problem, because GST's online does work quite well.

I totally didn't realize Virtua Tennis 2009 came out as well. Are you playing with the Motion+, and did it come with Motion+?

I have Virtua tennis 2009. I played Grand Slam at my friends house. I also agree hat Virtua Tennis is superior as far as controls go.

Have most of you left the wii motion plus in the rubber sleve? Or have you taken it out? Reason I ask, is I can not charge my wii-motes with my Nyko charger if its in that rubber sleve.
