Is it just me or has Wii yet to come out with an outstandin FPS they got other really great games but nothing really shines or has made a big buzz in the shooting department. I thinkof the wii and i see a huge opportunity to make a great game but there is nothing out there...... what do ya think?

I agree. You're in the first person, and you're shooting stuff.

If you don't consider Metroid Prime 3 to be an FPS (I think it's more of a first-person action-adventure with a gun), then there's also Medal of Honor Heroes 2, and the even better Elebits (which is questionably an FPS as well).

Doubt we'll see that many FPS's that aren't questionably FPS's, with the wiimote and all. I mean, if You make an FPS You already have an excuse to look through the eyes and then the wiimote offers some interesting, original, distinguishing options.

And Metroid 3 sure is a great game. As an FPS, adventure, whatever You want to call it.
But uhm, MOAR!

I think the wii and having a good FPS is doomed from the start. With other systems having a lot more FPS to begin with, and the graphics being more detailed and such, I think even if we get some amazing FPS on the Wii there will be a massive mis-comparison that will go on. Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't mind having one. But for those that live for FPS I be they would rather play them on the PC or higher end graphically system than the Wii. The only thing the Wii has going for it is the Wiimote is probably better (if you are willing to learn it) than a gamepad for input. It would have been interesting to see how MoHH would have played out if it wouldn't have been another WW2 FPS. But it was and that turned off a lot of people from the start. Does anyone know of any FPS (well, that isn't a WW2 FPS) coming to Wii this year?

That's kind of what i wanted to say. I can see some FPS/... games making an appearance, but normal FPS games would work better on the other systems. Visual standards are extremely high in that genre and the setup makes very inefficient use of a systems power. There can be work-arounds. Like some extra ordinary visual styIe or focussing on combat in confined spaces. First person view can offer some sweet things with the wiimote, which i think to be the primary reason for future FPS like games on the Wii.

Who cares is there isnt voice chat. It's still the best FPS and online experience on the Wii IMO.

Metroid 3 is a good one. But MoHH2 has solid online play so that's my number 1 FPS right now. Maybe Call of Duty 5 won't suck as much as people think it will. That is announced for Wii right?

I think the problem is that the majority of FPS developers make their games for PC/XBOX360/PS3 because they want to crank out snazzy visuals. It would require alot of work to downgrade the visuals and implement wiimote controls into a multi-platform FPS. So the only hope really is for a developer to make an exclusive title for the Wii . I think this is unlikely because the large majority of people who want to play FPS games want bleeding edge visuals at the same time and limiting their game to the Wii would result in less $$.

I totally agree with you. But, MOHH2 is a solid FPS experience even if it still has the WW2 thing going on.

If Ubisoft can fix all the problems from the first, and add some new cool things, then Red Steel 2 will be the bomb.

God, I wish Mr.Carmack and company would bring a Quake game to the Wii, or Cliffy B and Epic bring an Unreal Tournament game for the Wii using the UE 2.5 or something, That would be awesome, just bring those games with like 30-40 of the best maps from all of the series and maybe a couple of new maps, That would be awesome.

F.P.S.First Person Shooter

First Person. Metroid Prime 3 is in First Person.

Why is there always question?

Its the best the Wii offers as well and its amazing.
It replaced Halo in my book... something that was hard to do.

I agree. But for some reason they would rather dork around with cell phone gaming instead. (just google, "Carmack Cell Phone").

Yeah, however it might not be for everyone, since is kind of different in terms of pacing, i guess? not sure.

Medal Of honor heroes 2 is also good, it controls better than prime 3 does.

It's decent, but with the lack of online, I couldn't spend $50 on it. It is a fun rental, but it really needs online, like Metroid Hunters.

metroid is totally an FPS there is a lot of fighting and when you youre shooting from the first person perspective that makes it FPS if anything ill give you FPSA (first person shooter adventure)

As a big Wii fan, I have to say that almost ALL of the best games for it are 1st party titles. For a good FPS to happen a 3rd partwould have to do it, because no Nintendo games are FPS. MP3 is good, but it is considered a FPA rather than FPS. I don't see any good FPS games in the near or distant future. That's what my 360 is for...:-)

I think the obvious reason an FPS is wanted on the Wii would be for the intuitive IR/motion controls in regards to aiming a weapon. The 360 can't do any of that.

Man as a PC gamer I totally dislike all of the FPS games on the Wii so far.

Mouse and Keyboard all the way.

What I would like is the Original Doom and Quake games ported to Wii with motion controls. That would rock because with those older games accuracy isn't that neccessary.

I'm the opposite way. I'd rather have a good game with no online then a crappy game with online where the dev goes "we can't think of anything good so go shoot your friends in the face"

I'll agree with you on that... I personally think nintendo needs to work on all their genres of games. Sure their are some good ones like super smash bros and stuff, but they still haven't impressed me on a number of fronts.
