A few days ago i got that tv (the one from the title). First off i tried my ps3 and well as it was expected it looked awesome.

Then i tried my Wii...

...i plugged the component cables (5 cables, R,G,B for video and R and W for audio), turned on the Wii, system setting... Screen Settings, screen resolution 480p check, aspect ratio (not sure if thats the name of the setting) 16:9...

Then i inserted Twilight Princess... then Re4... then other M... then Shattered Memories... then New S. Mario... then SSBB... then madworld

Sadly i found out that all the games looked horrible... jaggies over here... more jaggies over there... new S. Mario, SSBB and madworld doesnt look as horrible as the others but they looked better on a standar tv.

i began to mess with the tv settings but to no avail everything still looked bad, then i notices that the signal the tv was receiving was 480p 4:3, thats quite a dissapointment, the settings on the wii said 16:9 but the tv said 4:3.

After that i began messing with the Wii settings, and i found out that i got the best picture with 480p and 4:3. Of course i had to mess with the tv and make it not fill the entire screen.

With those settings it looked a lot better (not better than a normal tv tough).

Do any of you guys have some advice to make it look better?

ooohh and sorry for my horrible english, i hope i wrote this correctly...

You're playing a Wii on a Sony brand television? That must be the problem.

Is that a known problem?

you say it like the tv was programmed to reject the Wii...

he is joking. He said it because Sony is a competitor in the console market.

You maybe won't like my answer, but get a XDTV (extended definition) plasma or a plasma with good SD picture quality. You could also try some upscalers (don't ask me where to get them).

Edit: or you could simply play the Wii on your CRT which will make the jaggies less apparent.

after a fair bit of reading today it's possible your TV is not set to the proper input resolution. The wii does not "trigger" displays to auto config to appropriate res. Try messing with all your tv resolutions to find one you like, seems some ppl prefer it in "zoom" others prefer normal or full... try them all. also you should have a game setting somewhere on tv, toggle that too. I won't get a chance to try this till the 25th but from what i've read these are common issues. Also make sure the game itself supports 16:9.

Don't play on a HDTV. Just play on SDTV. To me it looked filthy no matter how much I messed with it.

You should turn your Wii back on 16:9, 4:3 mode is for losers. Also when you're TV said the signal was 4:3 it's because the Wii's component signal is analog and the TV really has no idea what aspect ratio your Wii is on. It appears your tv probably isn't very good at upscaling 480p signals, some HDTVs aren't. The best you can do is turn the brightness and sharpness down a bit and don't sit too close to your TV. You'll get used to the picture. My Wii looks pretty good on my HDTV, not anywhere near as good as my 360 or PS3, but depending on the game looks rather nice. You're best bet would have been to get a plasma instead of an LCD, but since I'm assuming that's not an option just play it enough and you'll get get used to it. You could always buy one of those HDMI upscalers for like $75 too, which would help a little, but its rather expensive.

I'm currently using a 1080P Sony Bravia bravia too and I notice little jaggies while playing. Try turning game mode off on your TV and try to play in Wide Zoom mode.

Unfortunately thats just how the wii andmany games no matter what system will look like on an lcd hdtv when they don't run in hd. You'll just have to get used to it or buy a plasma with a good sd picture.

This is the main reason why i don't play my Wii anymore, The jaggies! ruins the game for me. But anyway, try sitting further away from the Game so you don't notice the jaggies or buy a smaller SDTV for the wii to play on. Untill Nintendo get around to a HD Wii or a Wii2 call it what you want. Your going to have to put up with the 480P Resolution.

I really don't understand people who complain about this. I've owned two HDTVs one LCD and one Plasma TV and both looked awesome. I've also seen the Wii connected to a Sony 1080p HDTV and it looked awesome. They were always connected with the official Nintendo Component Cables although I suspect the rocketfish ones are just as good. Yes the TV's ability to upscale matters to, and I've noticed LCDs are always bad at this. Other posters are correct, the Wii does not send the 16:9 flag that tells the TV to switch to 16:9 mode, you have to manually change that.

I made the switch from 40" to 32" and it works fine now (both Sony Bravia), it was really ugly. Sitting further away from the screen makes it look better aswell. I had to play in 4:3 mode at least then it looked somewhat better.

I'm not sure about the tech stuff but from my experience going smaller definitely helps alot.

i find it funny that my Wii looks great on my 32in 720p Olevia hdtv and my 42in 1080p Proscan hdtv and not on peoples fancy Sony and Samsungs. i didnt change any of my tvs settings. Nintendo brand component cables, 480p and 16:9 in the wii settings and it looks awesome. Mario Galaxy 2 and Other M look fantastic imo. All 30 of my games look good.
