well i just got my wii and just have the standard cables hooked to my LG 32" 1080i but everything looks a little more blocky then i had expected...is it just be with my expectations too high or is it just the cables being hooked to a HD tv?

my wii games looked almost worse on my lcd tv as well. however, its night and day once you get the component cables. id highly recommend spend the extra cash (about half a new wii game's worth) to upgrade.
ya thats what ive been thinking i did however predict this and got a Wii HD pro component cable for only 12 bucks (after overnight shipping!) the cable was only 1 dollar at amazon.com cant wait to see how everything looked. playing Twilight Princess like this i was like wow is it just me or is this horrible? lol but thats guys im glad its jsut the cable
well with twilight princess you have to remember it is a GC game on the wii...now play Mario Galaxy on an HDTV with the right connections is an amazing site. Also The Conduit looks 100x better on an LCD, DLP, or Plasma display.
Get the ED cables (available in black too). Makes a difference on non-CRT sets, big difference imo. And at this price it'd be foolish not to get them!
Your TV might not be good at upsampling the image in general orthe manufacturermay have just assumed the composite source wouldn't be very good anyways so they decided not to waste any money on the needed parts to make it a high quality connection. I don't know how much you paid for your tv, but manufacturers of cheap tvs are always looking to cur costs.
It could very well be a wonderfull TV, but they may have cut corners in the upsampling algorythm. Try the new cables -- your TV may be able to work with the higher quality signal better. You may want to call the TV manufacturer as well.TV was only like 700-800? i think its a wonderful tv

i think people are still doing something wrong if theyre using component cables and its doesnt look better, before i got component cables the wii was blurry on my 42in hdtv but after my cable showed up and i CHANGED THE SETTINGS to widescreen 16:9 and edtv/hdtv it looks great
If you are having any form of problems with the image will using any type of cable on just about any LCD tv try going into the tv settings and changing them, usually the picture sharpness is one thing that can greatly effect this if it is too soft it will make it look blurry, if it is too sharp it may make it look pixelated, since all tv sets have different settings it's best to play around with the setting and see which ones are best for yours when it comes to that.
[QUOTE="Kenny789"]I keep hearing people say the Wii looks great on an LCD with component cables but why does my friends Wii look like garbage? I double checked everything and he did it right, it looks so bad that my SDTV looks better.2-10-08Because wii wasn't meant for EDTVYes it was.
I thought Super Mario Galaxy and Wii Sports looked good when I played it on a I think 42" 1080i or was it 1080p Samsung HDTV and it looked good IMO even without Component cables. But I don't care about Graphics. I also played Metroid Prime 3: Corruption and it looked good.
Maybe it is because I haven't played a 360 or PS3 on an HDtv before I played Wii on that tv.
That's it. We need a component cables sticky. And I think the title should be something like "D U HAS TEH HDTV AND TEH WII? COMPONENT CABLES WILL DO U GOOD, FUH REELZ, BRO!!!!!!!!!!!!!", with HUGE fonts.
We also need a "WII HD AIN'T GONNA HAPPEN, STUPID!"
While we're at it, we could also use one that says "ACHIEVEMENTS ARE TEH SUX AND TEH WII DOESUN'T NEED'UM!!!!!!!"
Those threads would be far, far, far, FAR, FAR more useful than the recommendation thread. I'd rather have a bunch of guys asking for recommendations, talking about their taste and, based on their taste, being able to tell them what kind of games they may like, instead of having these same three idiotic subjects repeated ad nauseum.

The issue is with the TVs ability to upscale the signal to 1080p (or whatever the TVs native resolution is) from 480i and 480p through the composite and component hookups. Component cables could make a big difference, but only because the TV was designed to do a better job upscaling the component signal then the composite signal. The difference between component and composite is minimal if you have a TV that does a good job with both inputs. When you use an LCD monitor on your PC, have you ever noticed how bad the image looks if you don't set your video card to use the monitor's native signal? The same thing applies here. If the new cables don't help and the adjustments on the TV don't help then the only way to fix the image is to get an external upscaler, which will be expensive. The issue is with the TVs ability to upscale the signal to 1080p psychobrew
No, champ. That's some stuff you brought up because you wanted to.
This:

Is still the issue.
I just use the composite cable for my 50"plasma and it looks good. The systems hooked up at the store are using component and I can't tell adifference.
DaBrainz
Buy a component set. You WILL see the difference.

You're not a very technical person, are you. Those who see a big difference when going from composite to component have a TV that does a much better job handling the component signal than it does at handling the composite signal. While there is a difference in quality between composite and component, the difference by istself is not huge (noticeable, yes, but not huge). The TVs ability to upscale an image is huge. Please Log In to post.
