I own a xbox 360 but I grew up on Nintendo and am thinking about selling it and buying a Wii...the only thing that worries me is the controller. Its cool that you can control it by moving but it that the only way you can play? Like for example in Zelda can i choose to control it with just the controller buttons or does it have to have the movement incorporated?

Also does anyone UK based know whats happening with the stock of Wii's in England. Seems everywhere is out of stock. I havent been following it so don't know the deal. When's the new batch expected to arrive?

Thanks for your time

Don't sell your 360. everyone, including nintendo admits that the wii is better off as a second console. Zelda is motion sensing all the time, if you don't like it, buy the gamecube version. also, the motion sensing is perfect, it takes little effort and is incredibly intuitive.

No, you have to play it with the Wii control-type.

Don't sell your 360. It's got plenty of good games and many to come. Now the Wii's controls are ptretty good, don't you worry. And a few game let you use the gamecube or classic controller(like Dragon Ball Z Budokai Tenkaichi 2), but right now... You don't have such a great game selection. The things library is almost made completly of ports.

Nintendo didn't say Wii is better as a second console. Nintendo say they don't want to compete against the others. If he wants to sell his 360, go for it.

As for me, Wii is going to be my main console and my only console.

how does it work with the Wii virtual console? do you just download games just like with the xbox360 xbox live arcade? Come to think of it, is the Wii online at all? Sorry for the basic questions but I've ignored all info about the Wii until now...trying to resist it i guess. But the classic gameplay factor of Nintendo is just too good to resist. Xbox 360 is good and all that, but nintendo is just nintendo....

I'm one of those that say go with both. I have both, and enjoy them greatly. As for the VC, you pay for them with points, download (and can redownload whenever), and then play. Some will need the classic controller, some won't. It will tell you what you need pre-download. As for online play, not at the moment, but there will be several titles with it by the end of this year, and 3rd party online will pick up sometime in the future.

Can you borrow a Wii from a friend or something? I ask because my friend perfers his 360 and doesn't like the motion controls so I would suggest you try it out first if you can.

DO NOT SELL YOUR 360! This system doesnt do well by itself, if your use to playing 360, you'll most likley hate this system. Theres barley any games and the graphics are medicore. So wait...

I don't admit that at all. I have this as a stand-alone console. I think it's a perfect stand alone console and encourage the TC to sell it.

Then your a naive fool> I am a DIEHARD Nitendo fan and even though I've never own a Xbox or 360 I'd advise him not to sell it, the 360 has better game at the moment and strong 3rd party support. Not a Fan of Console shooters or Halo but I might pick it up.

thanks to everyone for all the tips that I was too lazy to search the internet for. A few of you say I shouldnt sell my xbox 360 for a Wii coz its not as good (3rd party support, graphics, online play etc) but im selling it also because xbox takes up too much of my time. I get too obsessive about mastering the games!!! I want a more laid back machine and would love to go back to Nintendo. So that only leaves the problem of......where are all the Wii's in the UK?????? someone said they are sold out in the US as well??? How has this happened. Why is it always Nintendo that do this. Happened with the N64 as well. Big time.

There are some Wii's available in the UK because I live there too but it normally comes in a bundle of games and prices are over £200/$400. If you are looking for the £179 deal with Wii Sports then you'll have to wait for the next shipment to arrive. The success of the Wii took people by surprise and it got sold out real quick even though Nintendo made sure that more Wii's were available at launch than at the Gamecube's launch. Nintendo are making something like 1 million Wii's a month but demand is higher than supply at the moment.

You might want to look at- http://wii-console.org.uk/

Pre-ordering might be the way to go. Having Wii60 is a great idea btw.

If it's for Zelda, you could buy the GC version which is controller button only.

But you seem to be missing the point. The motion sensing is far better than any controller configuration, believe you me. Might seem strange at first but it's far quicker, more efficient and way more enjoyable than normal buttons.

I  have limited cash and got rid of my 360 (after 3 replacements because of 3 red lights) to get my Wii. I think it is one of the best decisions I made because I can now play my games without the worrys of "is my 360 gonna break again". My 360 cost me a small fortune with scratched and cracking discs all the time. I actually binned Lost Planet and Dead Rising because the shop wouldn't take them off my hands. I now just have my Wii as a standalone and have never been happier or played so many games at once. This is mainly due to me picking up lots of GC bargains that I missed out on, having gone over to XBox a few years back. I would take a alot of convincing to trust Microsoft again. I got bored with my 360 anyway but I wasn't online, the games just seemed like the same old games with better graphics and the same old pad experience. Playing all my GC games is starting to feel limited lately as the Wii remote really enhances even the most average game so I can't wait for the next big game from Nintendo. I'm buzzing about my games machine like I haven't done since I imported (I had more money in those days) my PS 1 from Japan with Tekken and Ridge Racer many moons ago.

I agree with this idea, by the time you've saved up some extra cash some really good games will be out, and if you have a 360 that actually works you should consider yourself blessed, I had one but breaking twice is enough to turn me off from a console altogether.  I will however be getting another 360 once the price drops and the threads of them breaking starts to thin out.

Hey!!! Dont talk on Wii owners and Nintendo's behalf. Nintendo only admits to not competing in terms of graphics and the Wii is doing fantastic as everyone knows. i dont have a 360 or PS3 and the Wii is good enough for me. I have a really good computer and can play games like Oblivion on the highest settings!!! Which as everyone knows is impressive on its own but the point of me saying that is straight after i can sit on the Wii, play some Godfather and be perfectly happy with the visuals...i know i went off topic but its a good point i wanted to share, lol :)

Sell it if you want, the Wii is a good standalone console imo. With all the good games that are coming, GC backwards compatibility and VC games to keep you occupied, you can't possibly be bored. I got mine a few months ago and even now, i'm overwhelmed by all the games I have on my Wii. Now if you'll excuse me, I have to decide which game I wanna play today ;)

As someone who sold his 360, I encourage you not to do the same. The fact is there are fantastic 360 games in genres that the Wii will never approach. If you can get both, it would be perfect. I sold my 360 because I needed the money. Now with the elite coming out, I'll be a Wii60 guy again, hopefully soon.

I'm going to close this thread, because people here really can't handle debating the merits of owning a 360 logically. If you want it, and you want to play the games that will come out for it (and there are a ton of awesome games now and in the future) then keep it. If you don't want to play the games for it, then sell it. Only you know what you want, and what you want to play.
