Are you kidding me? Did you not just see the headlines recently saying that Nintendo can't keep up with demand for the Wii at the price that it's at now? How could you possibly imagine that they would ever drop the price of the Wii in the near future?NintendoesActaully no, I don't read the Wii headlines.

Wow dude it was a simple question, no need to get angry. But yeah, I would be VERYsurprised if nintendo dropped the price now, considering the demand for it. Unfortunately, you'll probably have to stick with paying $250.
Here is how I see it.. the Wii will stay the same and the same price for a year, then new colors will come out (still for 250) for next christmas. A year after that there might be a price drop but more likely just another add on (like a game or something) to it and the price will stay the same. I wouldnt be suprised if there is no price drop untill Wii 2 is announced.ag1052Ok so are you saying forget about the Wii, because of the lackk of price drops, and just wait a few years for th next generation of nintendo?
BTW, its not like I don't have a game system now, I have the XBOX 360.

No, Im just predicting what will happen... Get a Wii and get it ASAP. Waiting wont do you any good cause there aint no way it will be cheaper anytime soon. Here is how I see it.. the Wii will stay the same and the same price for a year, then new colors will come out (still for 250) for next christmas. wii 2?whats gonna be the differenceWhat I meant was I think there wont be a price drop till the next gen Nintendo console is announced.[QUOTE="ag1052"]Here is how I see it.. the Wii will stay the same and the same price for a year, then new colors will come out (still for 250) for next christmas. Not when they are outselling the competition two to one or three to one or six to one. Basically no price drop. There are rumours of an offical bundle however which Nintendo often does with certain games. Possibly they will bundle wii fit with the wii or mario galaxy.
I'm expecting a $50 price reduction (USD) by spring when they are able to catch up. Nintendo has always been decent with price cuts on all their previous consoles, no matter how well or bad they sold. N64 came out at like $250, and soon went to $199, then $150 and so on. All with in 2 years.PhazevarianceWhile I won my 64 in a contest so I didnt really buy it, im pretty sure that it started out at $199.... anyway even if you are right you cant compare the Wii to the past Nintendo systems because even though some of the past ones sold well, they did not sell this well. Before a price cut you will see other color Wii, and then after that you will see more bundled with the system (maybe Wii Play so they will get an extra game and an extra wiimote).
EDIT: "When the Nintendo 64 system was finally launched on September 29, 1996, only two games were available to American consumers: Super Mario 64 and Pilot wings 64. In a move considered risky by Nintendo, no game cartridge was packaged with the Nintendo 64 system. Only the console, a single gray controller and an AC adapter were included in the original packaging. The Nintendo 64 debuted with a retail price of $199."

I didn't really think the Wii was that expensive, 250 isn't that bad is it? I thought the XBox 360 was expensive, until the PS3 came out, then I thought it was freaking expensive. The Wii is nothing compared to the PS3 and 360. I personally have no desire to get a PS3...
yep... its also cheap compared to what inflation is for the older systems. Yes the NES was only 199 but 199 back then was a lot more money than now.I didn't really think the Wii was that expensive, 250 isn't that bad is it? guys u need to chill out... he/she was just asking a simple question.. and poster do get so mad/offended so easy.. :P
now... to ur question... no sorry... the drop would not happen anytime soon (reason above) but summary imo :
Is the cheapest system and the selling are happening. So nintendo do not have a reason to drop the price
What chris said :P ... Nintendo would not be able to keep up if the drop the price.
They may drop a lil in the future, if new colors are release or they may included accesories/game for the same price.
see u all...
thus imo... this is a cheap system
I think it's definatley worth the price its at now..
I don't even consider playing my 360 much anymore..
Nintendo will consider doing a price drop when the wii stop being sold out everywhere. In a year or two IMO
No i highly doubt it....
1) it is the cheapest system out right now
2) they are high demands for it
3) they are in the lead in the console wars
overall...i dont think nintendo will drop the price
there is no reason for nintendo to drop the price of the wii because simply it sells like crazy.i do not think we will see a price drop in the near future too but maybe we will see some new bundles or some offers from some shops.
I have no idea why there are people who think just because Microsoft and Sony drop prices Nintendo will. Do they not understand why Microsoft and Sony had to drop the price? Do they not understand that in Japan the PS3 has been the cheapest since launch and most of the units bought during the first month were by foreigners to be sold on the black marketand online auctions? Do they not realize that in most regions the xbox 360 is the same price as the wii or just 50 dollars higher and the wii constantly outsells the xbox 360 in these regions? Do they not understand that in several regions that the wii is in fact higher priced then the xbox 360 and still outsells the xbox 360?
Why the holy hell would Nintendo lower the price on the wii with those kind of sell conditions?
I would think, at the earliest, next season(2008). But even then, thats pushing it...
I mean, it is still 'hard to find' in alot of places in the US, and its selling pretty well at that...A price drop is poss, but only if it gets slaughtered this season by the other guys...But withthe lineup of hot releases, I doubt the wii will suffer one bit.
