Nintendo is just trying to take advantage, because they're aware that the Wii is selling great, so their trying to make more money out of it. If sales go down, so will their prices, and then everything will be back to normal.
Have you ever wondered why nintendo never increased the price of wii's?i mean, there are a lot of people who would like to have a wii for the price of $250but if the price was $300 maybe they are wiling to wait a while.Nintendo would still be selling their wii's...because at $250 they are not availible any wayand they will have 20% extra revenue how good can that be for nintendo...until demand is laid back a bitthen they can bring the price to $250 again...
its a simple economy....high demand+low supply = higher price
they will get more money, people who are willing to pay more will get wii's, people who want wii for $250 can waitbecause they were waiting any way
so why not?Kingmohd84
Simple Economy? You're kidding, right?
Worst thread ever...
You can't sell a product for $300 dollars after you've already told everyone it's worth $250...
a price increase only happens when their are catastrophic shortages in the components (a hurricane drives up the price of housing, a drought drives up the price of produce, a late frost drives up the cost of fine wine)...since this is propbably not going to happen, there will not be a price increase...
and if there WAS a price increase, it would muck up the works with the creation of pricing equilibrium (where demand and supply are in perfect proportion) and would make an already volatile market impossible even more complex and make strategic thinking in the market place even harder...
Nintendo is doing great and seeing record sales (and I imagine profits) and I'd hate to see them mess it up because they think they could've gotten more.
IMO, if they wanted to sell it at a higher price, they should have done that during launch. Selling it at $300 right now would mean death for the wii, especially in my country since the 360 core and left over 30GB PS3s cost less than the wii.
I bought my wii for P21,500 or roughly $400 :D
This is the first time I've heard someone wanting to pay more money for a console...Caveman626
i know right
nintendo is making huge profits at $250, or even more at£180
they are sold out, why change that? if they increased the price, consumers would feel skimped and not buy it
being a friendly company means A LOT, tis why i don't understand why people still buy sony after their onslaught of lies and dodgy dealing
high demand is getting nintendo some MUCH needed hype and is working as a very cheap advertising method, since press are still commenting on the sell out
press comments are always better advertising methods than the TV, since people beleive the opinions rather than what they see nintendo showing them
there are a LOT of reasons why nintendo won't raise prices, and all result in nintendo loosing this generation(who is about to take the lead this gen, have over 10 million shipped, and have actually taken the lead in how many have been sold) and those are only 2
There is more to business than just making money. There's a thing all businesses have called a corporate identity. For the first time in forever, nintendo is winning the race. They've passed the 360 in sales. Remember also that the wii didn't put every piece of technology under the sun into their systems that would require an increase in price. At the same time, they've managed to raise the bar in gaming as we know it.I applaud nintendo for what they've done with both the wii and the ds.
And besides, what little they make from the systems is made up from all the accessories. I about cried when I bought my first memory card! SHESH!
