Hi, I've had my Wii since it launched. I didn't really play it much, since there wasn't many decent games out. Once galaxy and smash brothers brawl came out, I really started getting into it. I was probably playing it about an hour or so a day max. A couple of days ago I went to play wii. The Led light, normally yellow, was red. I turned on the wii and the light turned green, but nothing appeared on screen. There was no audio either. It was the "wii black screen of death". Yes, the av cables are working fine. I've been told there's no way to fix this problem. I called Nintendo, and of course, since the warranty is up it's going to cost me 100$ to repair my system. The machine is kept in a cool open area. It has never been dropped or damaged in any way. I can't figure out what the hell happened. I don't want it to happen to my next wii. Anyone know what could've gone wrong?

Btw nintendo will often repair for free you have to say the right things. Odds are you cried or yelled and didn't sound adult.

Tried unplugging and plugging it back in, still screwed

Plugged into a surge protector. Nothing else that was plugged in was affected. Tried the adapter with my friend's Wii and it works fine.

Nintendo refused to fix it for free, I didn't cry and whine. I explained the problem and pointed out that there was nothing done to the Wii to result in this kind of damage. "Odds are" that you're assuming I'm retarded.

No idea what could have caused this? Anyone else know of launch Wii consoles exhibiting this kind of defect?

I think the your PSU is dead. It is possible that because you haven't played your Wii for a very long time, when you switched it on, you played for a certain amount of time that the PSU couldn't handle because it wasn't used frequently. Of course, I could be wrong.

Well I hope you get it fixed!

I think the your PSU is dead. Don't know why though. Maybe you haven't been using it enough?

Whatever it is, hope you get it fixed!

Try your friend's adapter and try the composite cables that came with the wii as well as someone elses. It's possible the connection to the tv is the issue. Check your tv settings.

Ask to talk to someone else if they try to charge a fee.

Hmm, I guess Nintendo will have to fix it, I don't know anyone else who would understand the problem, all though I really did want to avoid that repair fee :(

And my profile name isn't pathetic, it was the first thing that came to mind when I made it to post on these forums, because my friend was listening to Tupac and i laughed at him. I gather you're a fan of his, but most people know that rap isn't real music and that rappers are all hypocrites who deserve to be shot for perpetuating black and ghetto sterotypes

Thanks for the help guys, hopefully this doesn't happen again to me or any of you

You seriously don't know true rap, and if you've never listened to A Tribe Called Quest, Immortal Technique, The Perceptionists, Del Tha Funkee Homosapien, Talib Kweli, or any other rappers not on your Local Radio Station trash rap, don't ever talk down about rap. It can have plenty more depth than you'd imagine. In fact I'd say it can be the most intelligent music style created.

And I did not like Tupac, I was more of a Biggie Fan for my Gangsta rap, but I always had my Geto (not Ghetto) Boys, and Eazy E to sate that Gangster Rap hunger

yeah i am a fan of tupac. even if he is that type of person, i find it sad that you think someone being dead is amusing.

And dont speak for everyone else, when you are the one voicing out your opinion. Not all rap is bad, yeah it has its patches, but you have no right to shoot down the whole genre. it has its bright spots. The radios dont play rap music which actually have stories to tell. but you are one ignorant mofo so this is all pointless

anyway ive gone off topic and im done. good day

When someone gets gunned down because of his music, I reserve the right to laugh. I don't listen to the radio. I've heard "real rap" and i'm not any more impressed. I'm not an "ignorant mofo", i'm a realist. You can like rap all you want, most of my friends do. But all in all, the genre has done more harm than good, so I disagree with it.

But again, that's off topic, ciao. Thanks again

As I said try another person's audio visual cables. Plug your wii into another tv. It could be your tv that is the issue.

Ask to speak to another rep state it appears to be defective hardware and not user error. Tell the rep you have tried another wii's cables and nothing occurs.

Alright, apparently someone decided to get me banned for not liking rap...

I tried my friend's wii on my tv and it works fine, and my audio/video cables work fine with his wii. I'll definitely try calling Nintendo again though and explaining the problem again. Like you said, it's obviosuly a defect in the system and not caused by the user, so I don't agree I should have to pay to fix it.

Yeah either your system is screwed or like the PS3 if your doing a firmware update and ANYTHING messes with your system during that time then your sstem is fried so i would nip it and consider yourself lucky that it only costs u 100 instead of trying FOREVER to find another system and then pay full price for it
