After playing all of the racing games out for the Wii, I kind of get the feeling that its going to be difficult to pull off a truly great racing game on the Wii.  Sure, Excite Truck was ok, and NFS: Carbon was too.  But the controls were not quite as responsive as I had hoped for.  I found Carbon to be very frustrating, and although Excite Truck was fun for a while, I got tired of swerving off track when not even moving the Wii-mote at all.  Just because the Wii-mote is motion sensitive, that doesn't mean that Nintendo should force every single game to use this feature.  I really think that they should at least give you the option to steer with the nunchuck's thumbstick.

Thoughts?

I semi-agree. It could be more responsive, but then again, for ET it works great after a few races and there are sensitivty options and game control will improve over time.

hey man lay off.Its nintendos first try and I think there doing a great job.

Nintendo is trying to do something different and I think its about time someone did something different and I think its about time. If you want to steer with an analog stick get any other game system.

I like the controls for excite truck...there is a bit of a learning curve, but it's quite good once you've got it. The controls don't just respond to motion, you know, so if you're holding it off horizontal, you will steer in that direction.

I diagree about Need for Speed Carbon.
That game controls excellent, no problems here.

Plus games like Spongebob and Wario do great with the driving controls too.

The driving in Warioware was a small part of the game, but it worked great.  The Wii is capable of great driving games.

I'm pretty sure all racing games out on Wii so far controls great if you give it a chance & learn the controls. I remember this review of Gt Pro Series, which the reviewer bashed the game's difficulty, the tracks were too difficult & impossible to race without messing up.

After 20 hours of playing Gt Pro Series I can breeze through all tracks. If the reviewer aren't good at the game, it will affect the score, which just isn't right. It's pretty confusing, really, people don't bother picking up Gt Pro Series because the graphic, but still they go & buy Mario Kart 64 on the virtual console? seems more like brainwashing if you ask me.

Well, there we are, as soon as you say something about the wii or its games needing improvement, all the fanboys come out of the closet. Although I haven't played either ( so I can't really comment ) I do hope that Nintendo and developers realize that not every game needs to be motion sensitive.
