So, since I just got Bwii the other day (not bad) I've been thinking more about how there are no Wii RTS games despite the genre being a perfect fit.

We need a standard old-fashioned RTS game that is iconic of the genre. Gather resources, build structures, produce units, and conquer. Control wise, I was thinking:

Point and press A to choose units. Click A on more units or drag a box to choose multiple units.

If multiple units are selected, you can press a direction on the d-pad to assign them to that button as a shortcut.

B deselects units.

On the bottom left hand of the screen is a wheel of 8 commands. You can toggle which command you want to give with the nunchuck control stick (think trauma center).

Press A again to give the order.

Either run the cursor towards the edges of the screen or hold Z and move the control stick to pan around the map. (Dead zone could be tweaked or turned off in options)

Hold C and move the control stick to rotate/zoom the camera.

Dawn of Discovery is the closest thing we have to an actual RTS, but it's more of a time killer than a fun game.

Dawn of discovery is a really good game, beautifully presented, simple controls, but the gameplay is chalenging even to a seasoned RTS player. Wonderful Game.

I want a Wii RTS badly also. Especially since I love Starcraft and C&C.

considering I never played pikman on the GC, and found pikman NPC for as cheap as pikman GC I gave it a shot... I almost feel ashamed saying it, but I really want pikman 2 to show up now with NPC...

Didn't Ensemble split up when MS let them go? Maybe one of them can establish a franchise on Wii.

Anyone hear anything new about Takt of Magic? Heard conflicting info on whether it's coming stateside or not.

Dawn of Discovery isn't an RTS. It's in real time, and it involves strategy, but it's more properly classified as a City-Builder game in the tradition of SimCity, Tropico, and Anno 1701. In fact, in its Euro release, it's called Anno: Dawn of Discovery.

The PC versions of that game are pretty hardcore. We're talking about playing with spreadsheets and farm layouts. I'm not kidding, either. The new 1404 Anno is much more accessible because you can automate many functions you had to manually do before (like manage resource routes), but it's still a very niche game.

DoD on the Wii is much more accessible - it's breezy and fast, but it's still a City Builder game. Don't expect deep combat.

Well, Takt of magic in japan is a RTS, not sure if it will ever come to US. Devs are scared to go into consoles after the gigantic bombs that were those games in the HD twins.I think however, that analog sticks had a lot to do with the failure of those RTS`s-.

I think the wii should have TONS of RTS games on it. The controls would be good, except I would have move be the B trigger and the selecting an action to the minus or plus buttons. The nunchuck would make it more clunky in my opinion.
