So, I like that I can play on the small screen now for Wii games. Helps when my fiancée wants to watch TV and I want to game. Anyways, I wouldn't assume that there is a way to not have to plug into the tv and not have to turn the TV on confirming that I'm using the other screen, or is there? It just seems like a lot of work. Sometimes I would be at someone's house and plop the Wii U I'm another room and play the Wii U games on the gamepad without even connecting to a TV. It would just be nice if I could do the same on the Wii side. It almost doesn't make sense why they would do this the way they do.

Well you can hold B while the Wii U is starting and it will boot into Wii mode. For some reason that doesn't always work though. I also heard something about going into settings and changing HDMI display to another connection and that's lets you boot into Wii mode without a TV, but I haven't tried it.

Yeah, the holding B thing is what I do. I don't understand why sometimes it doesn't work. When that does happen, I just turn it off and try again and it usually works the second time around.

I'll try messing with the input options. Even when I do the B thing it says some warning that my TV isn't on or that I have to point the wii-mote at the tv and confirm stuff. I wonder if it would make a difference if I took it off HDMI 1080p for the TV. idk

I'm sure that only happens the first time you try do that. Anytime after that it will boot up straight to the Wii menu.

The only problem is when unplugging the hdmi from the WiiU. When I try boot up the Wii menu there's a message saying the TV must be plugged in or something. Someone on here suggested to switch to a non-HD setup which I haven't tried yet. I doubt it will work though.
