I was thinking of picking up Animal Crossing for DS because I lost my copy, but then I figured I might as well just get the Wii version instead. I see that some versions include a peripheral, and I'm curious as to what it does. I can get just the game a lot cheaper than the game with the peripheral so I was curious as to whether or not not having it would give me an inferior Animal Crossing experience.

Thanks in advance for your input.

OK, is it just for the online interactions or what?

It comes with a channel. Which is kinda pointless since you can only have one channel open at a time. So basically you're stuck there talking to someone but not really doing anything else. Might as well use a telephone and put it on speaker phone.

But it can be useful for online gameplay like The Conduit and other games. Not all online games are utilizing Wii Speak though, so I'd look up the game first before deciding if you have any games in mind.

This is the problem with Wii accessories. They're pricey, yet only used in a handful of games (exaggeration, but still, you get the point).

Wii Speak is currently the only option for voice chat. It only works for City Folk, the Wii Speak Channel (free with Wii Speak), & soon, The Conduit. It's well worth the purchase, if you ask me.

All you have to do is type "Wikipedia" or "Google" and you'll get your answer. It would also have taken less energy and time to do so.

It probably would have taken YOU less energy to ignore this thread and move along rather than come in here and give me grief over it.

That being said, I'm looking for opinion as well as fact, and here I can get both. Thus, it's actually less energy and time this way as I can get them both from one source (and did), can't I?

I'm not giving you grief, I'm trying to help you. You didn't need to make this thread. A simple Google search would have answered your questions. At the very least, you would have found out that it's a mic for online play, which would save you the embarrassment of creating a poll with answers that don't apply. Or you could even type "wii speak" into gamespot's forum search and find dozens of threads about it already. Again, just trying to help. For the future.

Bob, chill out. He wants info and opinions. You didn't need to make those posts. Gen_Dude, if you get Animal Crossings with Wii Speak we can play together and discuss the weather! I am going to be getting ACWii soon....hopefully.
