Has there been anymore news on it???
I read that it could be some holographic thing where you store data in 3d space or something but i seriously doubt it

i dont know why everyone is complaining about storage. i have 3 full menus on my wii, with tons of VC and WiiWare games, have still have a bunch of room. And if i'm not mistaken, you can delete a game and re-dl it when ever you want. It only take a few min to dl a game. The Wii doesnt need 150 gb HD so we can load games onto it, Keep it Simple Nintendo. THey make a great reliable console for gaming, not for media uses. get a pc if you want to do more then play games.da_chub
Surely it would be simpler to save your games to a HD or a SD card and play them off that, then have to go through the trouble of re-downloading a game.
There really is no excuse Nintendo and TBH in the next generation it's pathetic that they don't have a HD to save demos, Games, pictures etc. to

Don't laugh. Holographic storage has been in the works for years. Look it up. Though it doesn't technically work in 3D 'space' and I doubt it's going to make it's big debut on the Wii. More like the next chess supercomputer :)

Lack of storage prevents demos, and keeps DLC-based games from thriving like they should.
I agree. Why are so many people ( including Nintendo ) against a harddrive? It can do many good things such as demos, and DLC ( new songs for rockband, new race courses for mariokart, etc.).i dont care either way about more memory because it will be optional to buy more memory or not. i don't need any more memory because i only have 5 games and no vc games.Jdog30
That's not the case with Wii Aficionados. I have a habit of getting a lot of games on the Wii but I'm not a Wii fanboy, I'm Neutral since Nintendo made the Wii.
But anyway, Wii 2 is rumoured to be in the works and GameSpot submitted an article, so uh...Wait for that maybe?

FF:CC My Life as king has DLC as well.

I agree. Why are so many people ( including Nintendo ) against a harddrive? It can do many good things such as demos, and DLC ( new songs for rockband, new race courses for mariokart, etc.).ur not thinking about it. Sony and Mircosoft were are in the computer buissness its much easier for them to aquire HDD and use them. Nintendo would have to start producing HDDs where has Sony and Mircosoft just had to get more out there. Plus HDDs arent nessary although they are great to have. The Lack of storage doesnt prevent demos and keeps DLC low the lack of intrest does. Nintendo has no intrest in exploring these things and only does it to keep fans slightly happier. If they wanted to do those things they would have planned for storage a long time ago.

It wouldn't be hard for Nintendo to produce HDDs... It's just that they ain't used to making PC like consoles.

Certainly, but holographic storage is by no means the solution to the storage problems that we will be faced with for the next three years with the Wii.

But I am. In a way only the wise can understand.
All we need is SDHC compatability through an update and thats it.-Oath
I agree, soon there will be SD cards which can store up to 32 GB so that'd be better. Still I wish that there was a component within the Wii which had bigger storage because SD cards are getting easier to lose and with their storage size increasing their loss will just be more and more detremental to people.

There's going to be a holographic storage device... in the year 2020.
But other than that.... I think Nintendo is working on the storage device problem.

Neither Microsoft or Sony manufacturers HHD:s. Nintendo can get them as easy as anyone else.
"PC like consoles"? Tell me what's so different about the Wii compared to a PC?
The Wii has a CPU, GPU, Audio chip, RAM, Storage solution, DVD reader, SD reader, USB ports, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and is running a Linux distribution...

I think it would. Nintendo just has to be the first to jump on the technology. If you forget Nintendo was the first to have a Wireless NES Controller and a Light Gun with on-screen proximity in a video game console. Best years ever. They're still called "Nintendo" aren't they?

If Nintendo is looking for a solution at all, then they're looking for a simple, cheap, and above all quick one. Not an expensive one that's barely been tested in an actual market. Holographic's intention is to store absolutely gargantuan amounts of data without the failure rates of hard disks with moving parts. Nintendo really just needs to enable better 2 gig SD card support... It's a little outside their scope.

True but what if Nintendo put this plus a new graphics card in a Wii 1.5 and revealed at E3 2009 that they are going Full HD with Super Mario World HD Remix, Super Mario Paint, Luigi's Mansion 2: Toadstool Princess, Super Mario Underworld, Metroid Prime 4, with HD Miis, Movie, TV Show, Netflix and Blockbuster support? Wouldn't that be something.
