I remember hearing a year or so ago that Ninetendo was thinking about offering a trade in program for the Wii U. Has anyone else heard about this?

Through Nintendo..? That's never going to happen. GameStop may offer a minor "Trade your Wii for a Wii U bonus" but thats it, the Wii is worth next to nothing on trade-in these days.

It'll probably be something in the lines of 'bring your Wii, get US$10,00 off the WiiU' - if done by Gamespot. I highly doubt Nintendo will do something like this, but if it does, I guess the discount they'll offer for a Wii trade-in will be bigger.

Thanks guys. It was through Nintendo which I thought was strange also. Maybe Nintendo was thinking of this as a way to sell more Wii U's? I'm sure there will be offers at GameStop and other stores.

Not worth selling or trading in my Wii. Plus I want it for GC games.

This. If you trade in your Wii you lose one (or was it two, I can't remember how many it came with) of your Wii remotes, which will be required for some Wii U games and to play Wii games on it, and also lose GC (unless you happen to still own a GameCube, in which case your awesome) compatibility. The amount it would end up costing you to replace the Wii Remotes alone would probably outweigh the "saving" you would receive from trading the system in, and then with the other possible costs of either having to buy a GameCube to play your GC games, or possibly rebuying the games if they are put onto the Virtual Console, your just costing yourself a lot more cash in the long run.

It would be as pointless as a 3DS trade in deal for the revised 3DS model - you'd lose all of your digital purchases thanks to the way Nintendo has them tied to hardware instead of a user account.

I remember select Wal Mart stores had a DS trade in offer for a 3DS. You get a discounted price for your 3DS by trading in your DS

Yeah. You might be able to get around it if you have helpful employees at you local game store - I know the manager at the EB closest to me and I think he might let me perform a system transfer if I traded in my 3DS whenever the new model comes out. I just don't know if doing so requires an internet connection, as they have no free wi-fi.

I just noticed you have a raptor-riding Jesus wielding a Darth Maul blue lightsaber as your steam image . Is there anything else to the image?

From what I can tell it uses download play style transfer and is freaking slow, no wifi needed though, still, wth nintendo. The eShop is great but still hardware tied blows
