Ok, im going to the midnight launch for SSBB, so when I get back, I realy want to play t on HD and on widescreen. However, I get the stupid black bars on the sides of the tv when i start it up. I have a 32 inch Sony Bravia, HD component cables. I just dont get it. I turn on the HD thing in the settings and I set it to widescreen.

Any suggestions?

But, that happens with all your games? I think I have the same TV you have and I haven't had any problmes with it. There are some games that simply can't be played in Widescreen mode, like Mario Party 8, that's when the black bars appear.

Are you talking about the 4:3 black bars (like 2 inches across?) or are you talking about small bars (about 1/2 inch)? I have a 32" widescreen set to 16:9 aspect and the wii system set to 16:9 as well and it still has a little bit of black bars on the side.

I don't think that can be avoided.

480p is a 4:3 signal. You have to set the aspect ratio of your TV to stretch it out to 16:9. There should be a button on your remote to do this.

I have no problem with how the Wii looks on my HDTV. It's far from terrible, that's for sure.

False. 480p can be either 4:3 or 16:9. Look it up on Wikipedia.org. The resolutions are 854x480 or 640x480.

You have the same problem as I do ...

We have an Plasma - Wide screen television and if I set it on HD it gets black spaces on the sides .

It's like the TV is too big for that game or something ... ( I DONT GET IT...)
