Hello everyone

Im new to gamespot ( but not to nintendo :) ). I have yet to pick up a wii u and was hoping to do so boxing week of this year. I found a great deal for the wii u basic ( 8gb ) at $219.99, which is an ideal price for me during this time. I know the 32gb is the ideal for everyone and sounds great to me but it isn't on sale and I don't need such a large memory xD Okay before I start to ramble on to my question!

I don't plan on downloading games, and to my understanding you are actually getting 3.1gb to use on the system.
So by buying the physical copy of the game, how much space is each game using approx / how many games will i be able to save on the basic.

Thanks! :)

Stacey

Save games are next to nothing, so don't worry about those.

But patches and game updates will take up space, even if you buy the physical copy. It's impossible to know how much data the games you end up buying will eventually use.

If you run out of room, though, you can buy a cheap external hard drive. I have the 32GB model and still had to buy a hard drive because I download pretty much everything. It's easy to set up, and you won't need a huge hard drive if you're not downloading full games, so it won't cost you much.

Even with the 32GB model, you'll eventually have to upgrade your memory, but doing so is so easy and inexpensive it doesn't really matter.

I'm a big fan of Sandisk's Cruzer Fit line of flash drives. I have a couple 32GB's plugged into the back of my Wii U that protrude a millimeter or two out of the system that have been working wonders.

That's what I have. I wish they made a 64GB fit drive, but I'll take what I can get. I only have one plugged in at the moment. Haven't had to buy another one, but that will probably change.

I went for a 1TB drive as soon as the internal memory was full because I don't want to have to get another one. Hopefully that wasn't overkill, considering the uncertainty of the WiiU's future.... If it has a shortened life, I won't get close to filling that drive.

They actually do. I'm not sure if it was just released, but I've found it on the web. Only problem is a 32GB's about $15, while the 64GB's in the $40 range.

They must have just released them, because I checked a couple weeks ago for a bigger drive and didn't find it. Of course, I already spent my Amazon gift card on Deus Ex: Human Revolution Director's Cut. Whenever it comes time to upgrade, at least I'll have a bigger drive available. Thanks for the heads-up!

Yes, and as we know once you use a hard drive on a console it can't be used for anything else
