Seems like I didn't pay attention and didn't realized that Wii U doesn't have a Ethernet port for my wired Internet connection. Is there an alternative ?

I have the Wi-Fi connected and it seems to work normally. I just prefer wired connection for stability purpose.

@Sokol4ever: Yeah, Nintendo sells an official Ethernet Adapter or you can buy a USB one from Amazon.

I would just buy this, I have one. It's noticeably cheaper than the one from Nintendo and it has the same chipset.

Nice, its much cheaper as well. Me and my wife tried playing online with some Smash Brothers and we had annoying lagg spikes. Mind you my wifi is pretty stable with 50up/15down and none of my other electronics have any issues.

I'm little over 120up/25 down on my wired connection where I have zero problems. Hopefully the usb network adapters stabilizes the online connection.

@Sokol4ever: I find that Smash is probably the least stable Wii U game. It's particularly noticeable because online fighting games require instantaneous input, so the slightest big of lag becomes quite noticeable. Hopefully the wired connection helps out, but definitely no guarantees.

It's also a peer-to-peer game, so if one of your opponents has a bad connection, then everyone else will also have a laggy experience.

For the best experience, I found 1v1 no items mode to be the most reliable.

@trugs26: Sounds advice, appreciate it. Me and my wife usually battle 2 vs 2 online or Smash with family and friends so it's not bad really. I didn't know it's peer-to-peer connection... You would think there would be proper servers for such a important and demanding fighting game.

We will try with no items tonight, see if that helps with stability.
