wii u sound

hi all,

currently i'm using the lounge tv to play wii u, its great but i have a 24 inch lcd monitor in my room, which i want to use to play wii u. the problem is the monitor doesnt have any speakers built in. Just wandering if there is a way to get the picture thru hdmi and directly connect speakers to the console or any alternative methods for me to get sound working.

Benq and LG have monitors with an audio out jack. HDMi would carry picture and sound from the console, and a set of headphones or PC speakers would fit into the 3.5mm jack on the back of the monitor.

nintendo went cheap and didn't offer optical. you may need component cables instead.
