Hi,

As a wii newbie can anyone help ? I dont have a wireless router and told that you can buy a wifi usb connector which plugs into your PC and connects via a wired router. I've heard rumours that not all ISPs work. I'm currently with Tiscali - does this work ? Need to know before I splash the cash ?

Thanks,

I had a terrible time trying to get the USB Wifi to work and ended up getting a wireless router. Good luck.

DON'T BUY IT

For cheaper than the nintendo wifi usb thingy you can pick up a normal 54 mb/s wireless router. Not only is it a hell of a lot easier to install, faster, way more reliable and like i said you can get it for cheaper, you get the bonus of being able to access the internet from non Nintendo products, ie a laptop or even an iPod.

Trust me I bought the USB connector... spent like 45 minutes trying to get it installed, and then at least twice a week it would randomly just stop working and I would have to uninstall it to get it to work. And it turns out uninstalling it is just a pain, words cannot express the feeling (well they can but I don't want to get moded)

Basically I spent almost 2 hours every week making sure it worked. After about a month I realized that a wireless router is not that epensive. I bought one for $30, spent 10 minutes setting it up and have had consistent online for my Wii and DS ever since.

i've seen wifi USB connectors still being sold in stores.

i have one. but half the time i couldn't get it to work. i tried un installing and installing

even if you did have the right ISP it would be extremely unreiliable

but then the same problmes would occur and i couldn't connect.

i think those things are deffective. now i got a wireless router (Lynksys is a good router company for Wiis) so im all good.

Oh yeah i forgot to mention that Nintendo actually discontinued the USB connector although it is still very easy to find in stores. I think Nintendo themselves realized just how big a pain the thing was to operate.
