After reading this, I'm really excited. They claim that they're ditching friend codes, adding voice chat, and making overall improvements. I can't wait for this game!

They're talking about ditching friend codes with Nintendo? If Nintendo let Capcom get away with it, I don't see why they wouldn't let Treyarch as well.

Capcom used it's own network play.

Just like the article said, this is why we should appreciate HVS and Treyarch.

Hm, I think I'll get this game eventually. On the Wii, because motion controls always > gamepad when it comes to shooters.

When pulled off well, at least.

I know you aren't referring to MH3 as far as Capcom are you? Let me get this straight, so a Hunter ID which consists of roughly about 8 Randomly assigned characters specific to each person is not similar to Friend Codes which consist of around 12-16 randomly assigned characters specific to each person? Capcom didn't ditch anything. They just gave the option to search by using names as well as Friend Codes, I meant Hunter ID's.

Now EA actually ditched friend codes with Medal of Honor: Heroes 2. There were NO friend codes at all on that game and they were using their own servers for it. Only problem with that is that noone can have the same name which sucks if you're used to using the same name in every game and now you have to create a new one or alter yours just because someone else beat you to it.

I already understand that visually the Wii version is gonna be inferior to the 360/PS3 versions. At this point you learn to live with that and disregard it all together. At the same time though, i really do hope they include all the same features at least. I loved COD: World at War on the Wii, but it bugged the hell out of me to see that the 360/PS3 versions got the Zombies bonus game while the Wii version didn't.

I'm sure it'll be good. CoD Modern Warfare on the Wii was equal in almost every way to the 360 and PS3 versions, except that they butchered the graphics to put it on the Wii. I think there's a high probability they'll do the same thing to Black Ops on the Wii, which is why I'll be going for the 360 version. Other than that, the Wii version will undoubtedly be good.

So it can run at a steady frame rate, after all, the Wii doesn't have a whole lot of power to it.

A couple of things, one all online ID's on any system is essentially the same thing as a friend code, the only difference is Nintendo has convoluted the process by making a different one for each game. So you can never technically get beyond friend codes, but what Capcom did do, is streamline the online process a bit. One you can play with anyone which isn't unusual, but you can also contact anyone, and adding friends is as simple and somewhat as straight forward as it is on the other consoles. As long as developers use a different ID for every game yeah their not going past the friend code system, though names are generally easier than a string of numbers to work with, they are sticking to the system. However some has loosened up the very restrictive nature of friend codes, that is what Capcom did in Tri. EA did skip friend codes with EA nation, I think that's what you were talking about with MoH, I know it was in their sports game and I don't know if it was for MoH as well. But your ID carried over from game to game and that does bypass friend codes.

In MH3 you do not have to use the six digit hunter ID--it's an option. If the player you're looking for is online, then just search for that player by name and you will find them. However, that's also the only drawback--in order to send a friend request, the other player must be online--otherwise they won't be found.

EA Nation on Wii, still has the superior online network as it works the same as it does on other consoles (in terms of adding friends at least).

It seems that Black Ops will be much better than Reflex Edition... Thats cool and all, but I am getting tired of new military shooter every other day... I'm ready for something new and fresh, like The Grinder. Check it out:http://www.gamespot.com/wii/action/thegrinder/index.html?tag=result;title;1

oh, if you want a vid of some gameplay, go here:http://wii.ign.com/dor/objects/14352829/the-grinder/videos/grindere3deb_052909.mov.html

It was announced last year at E3, hopefully more details will surface in a few days at E3...

make sure to look at the Wii version, it is the only FPS version :D

MH3 HAS FRIEND CODES!!!! People get that through your heads. They're just shorter and are called Hunter ID. MH3 did not get rid of Friend Codes, they just gave the option to search by using names as well. Medal of Honor: Heroes 2 is an example of a game that does not have friend codes.

In MH3 you do not have to use the six digit hunter ID--it's an option. If the player you're looking for is online, then just search for that player by name and you will find them. However, that's also the only drawback--in order to send a friend request, the other player must be online--otherwise they won't be found.

Tri-Enforcer

Exactly my point and I couldn't agree more. There is an OPTION to not use them. Most people are overlooking that. If Capcom got rid of Friend Codes on MH3 then there wouldn't be an OPTION for finding them by name or Hunter ID/Shorter Friend Code. EA Nation is an example of having NO friend codes.

That's what I'm saying. Yes I was referring to EA Nation, I just forgot that was the name of it. Thanks. People, Capcom did not get rid of Friend Codes with Tri, they just gave the option to search by Name as well is all I'm saying.

Yeah but its not the friend codes that are an issue, though like said, going into the Tri topic and saying my name is Sepera is easier than having to copy down the friend code. But what they did do was bypass Nintendo's convoluted process. Take Tri vs Brawl, you play with 4 random people on Brawl and maybe you enjoyed it, but you have no means of contacting them or adding them and when you do add people, there's the lag before the game accepts it and wondering if the person added you back.. In Tri all that mess is bypassed, granted Tri still has its quirks but the take home is that the only interface is much more user friendly than online Nintendo games.

yeah Tri's system is better than just having friend codes alone and is alot easier to find people. I agree with that. mainly what I'm trying to figure out why peopke think MH3 has no friend codes when thats what the hunter ID is?

It's about time 3rd party developers IN GENERAL start doing so. I have a feeling that we'll end up seeing a port of MW2 to the Wii in the not too distant future as well, much like they did with MW: Reflex.

Now, if only we could get Capcom to make an original, exclusive Resident Evil game that uses the RE 4 engine. No offense to the fans of the on-rails shooters, but I think we're do for a REAL RE game :D

Well according to CAPCOM; if they bring RE 5 or similar to Wii they are GONNA use the CAVIA engine(in my opinion, jaw dropping engine. miles ahead RE4 one). In fact i wouldnt be surprised to hear about it at E3(an annoucement i mean). The onrailed shooters did well for capcom (around 2 mil so far) and they also said they were over with the chronicles.

Man oh man that would be EPIC. I've been dying for a new RE game for the Wii that wasn't merely an older port (RE4, RE1 remake, or Zero), or an on-rail shooter. Granted, the on-rails games did quite well in their own right, but I found both games to be more of a tease than anything else. I know that a lot of 360/PS3 gamers complained about RE5, but nevertheless, as a Wii owner and die-hard RE fan I would salivate at the the thought that RE5 would be ported to the Wii. I'm sure that Capcom could even pull it off with the Wii hardware, even if they'd have to scale it down a bit visually.

As long as the controls will be great and the game garners significant critical success, I may just get this along with the PlayStation 3 version due how the games will play differently.
