ph was supposivly made for casual gamers, but the only thing i've seen that makes it more casual is the new all touch controls. maybe thats all that will happen to the new one. after all, ninty knows that they can't venture that far into casualness with zelda, don't they?

B/c. Some people think that cell-shading sucks and that Zelda doesnt belong with it. many think he belongs in full 3-d, like Twilight Princess. But maybe if they do go 3-d again, it will be an upgrade from TP, since that looked very similar to the gc version.

Seriously. The Wii is turning into a minigame/easy-mode heaven. I'm disappointed :(. Here's to hoping that SMG, SSBB, and MP3 aren't too dumbed down, because those are probably the last three titles us real gamers are going to get.

Halo, mario series, metroid, smash bros, metal gear solid, final fantasy, oblivion etc are loved by casuals around the world so what's the definition? Can hardcore even be attributed to a game? Or does it refer to the player playing it? I'd like to think the latter. Enough with all these badly defined terms.

haha... do you really beleive that? it seems more like sarcasm if you ask me. answer this question: of course they are doing a little control scheme change to make it more acessible, but do you really think that they would target a zelda game soley for casuals like that? casuals don't know what zelda is. they would play a mario mini game, not a zelda mini game. link has an f***ing sword on his back for christ sake. casual gamers don't want that. only the very open ones would play a zelda mini game. only these same open ones would play a traditional zelda game. its a slight change to help people interested in becoming hardcore. the hardcores wont even notice the change after they get use to the controls. all they will notice is how their gang of zelda fans just got way bigger.

Is nintendo casualizing Mario Galaxy? No. Metroid Prime? No. Is Donkey Konga with bongos a system seller? no. but they keep making them so of course they're thinking about the hardcore gamers.

I expect this next zelda to just have better controls and use the controller to the fullest of its capabilities.

Now ...somebody finally said it! I was reading this thread and wondering when someone was going to actually say that the article says "for casual and hardcore gamers" Thank you.........and don't worry people Miyamoto knows what he's doing, I personally don't believe he'd make a bad game intentionally! I'm going to be patient myself, patience was kept while waiting for Twilight; and it turned out fantastic!!

Dude....thats an interesting point that I need to add too. If you follow a certain character or a franchise for years on end, does that make you a hardcore gamer? Been following Mario games since back in the ColecoVision days myself.....does that make me a hardcore gamer? I think so, but maybe not to some people. Maybe the term hardcore refers to the "FPS fans", or the "RPG fans"? Personally, it makes since to take the claim "harcore gamer" and make it a reference term for an individual that has been "gaming" for years on end, right? Well, so there you go an interesting quandary!!...............hmmmmm, I may just have to do a blog on "hardcore gaming".........dunno.:twisted:

reggie said in the press conference that new comers are having an easier time with some of the puzzles in phantom hourglassthan the core gamers. why is that? because they don't know what to expect and we do. now they are making games that supprise us. how horrible. i bet all of you complaining are the same ones that though twilight princess was too much of a rehash and now you mad because the next one wont be a rehash.mark my words: nintendo is only going to do two things to change zelda.

1) reformat control system to provide a new experience for the experienced and look more inviting to newcomers

2)create entirely new puzzles as to resolve the repetition problem.this willalso to keep experienced players from looking like jacka**es when they solve every puzzle within seconds. solving problems that fast will make new comers think they aren't smart enough to play the game. this will level the playing field, recreate fealings from the first time we played OoT, bring in new zelda fans, and stop rehashes.

Both casual and hardcore = you whining people lose. Seriously, they're probably just adjusting the controls so casuals can make sense of them.

Imagine 1:1 sword controls with the remote and 1:1 shield controls with the nunchuck. The guy in the article suggested using the Balance Board to control Link... hmm, turning it "sideways" so its pointing towards the TV, shifting your weight forward to run and backwards to back up? Hmm... first person Zelda?

I'm giddy. Whatever they put out will be great.
