I just hooked my Wii up to Wiiconnect 24 earlier today and i've notcied a few...strange things about the Wii. First and foremost, my Wii is hot. I've heard that it's normal for the Wii to be warm when connected to WC24, but how warm is normal? Cuz my hands were cold, and i rested them on my wii for a few moments to warm them up. Right now it's unplugged. Also, the light on my Wii isn't green or red, but yellow. I guess that's normal because my friend's Wii also displays a yellow light, and he's always connected to WC24. Finally, every time I turn the console on or off, it makes a noise like I'm inserting or ejecting a disk, even though I'm not. I doubt that's normal, and it only started after I connected it to online. Any openions? Is this stuff normal?

Everything you just stated is normal.  Look in the manual, the light is yellow when connected to WiiConnect24.  It does that noise when you turn the Wii on because it reads the disc, and it's supposed to get that hot.  If it gets too hot to touch, then it's a problem .

If you are worried, just turn off WC24. Its not like Nintendo is really putting out updates to justify leaving it on 24/7

Warm is fine... HOT is not. If you think you may be running too hot, there are cooling fan attachments you can buy that run off of the USB ports and run while the Wii is off. Or, you know, just turn off WC24. Mine runs pretty warm... definitely thinking about getting the fan add-on just to be safe. Some people here will tell you otherwise, but there HAVE been cases of damage due to overheating on the Wii. Of course, if this happens Nintendo will repair it free of charge, but you have to send the console in for a couple weeks.

I usually have whatever game I've been playing in the console, but I have noticed that if no game is in it, it makes some pretty loud noises when turning off/on. This is normal, don't sweat it.

Yellow light means Wiiconnect24 is on. Red means full standby (or "off") green is on.

It's normal for the Wii to get warm.

Light:

Green- on

Red- off

Yellow/ orange- stand by mode(off but wiiconnect24 is on. This means that its off but it is updating your channels).

NO light at all- Not plugged in.

so the fan only runs when the Wii is off? Jw because i had a fan for my 360, and not only was it loud, but it seemed like it took more power to power the fan, which caused more heat.

To be honest, I'm not 100% positive if it also runs while the console is on, but I would assume it does. I heard there were some major problems with the fans made for the 360 causing damage to the console, but from what I have read on the Wii coolers, there haven't been any reports of any of them doing so. There's a few on the market right now, ranging from a simple unit that plugs into the back of the Wii to a cooling base that replaces the vertical stand and not only cools the Wii but also lights up in a blue glow similar to the light on the front of the Wii.

As far as noise, I've read that the Intec one is a bit noisy, but not too obnoxious.

I'm kind of waiting for this one to come out; http://www.ebgames.com/product.asp?product%5Fid=802630

Those fans have been known to damage consoles and that won't be covered by the warranty. Just make sure you don't have some powerfull lamps or direct sunlight flashing on the wii. Also make sure the temp in the room is nice and cool. Put a fan in there not only to reduce the temp on the wii but to make yourself cooler as well. Also the fan will help keep dust away from the wii. It is very rare for the wii to overheat it's a manufactoring defect in the motherboard. Which is why only a few wiis are affected. The xbox 360 overheats due to shoddy soldering which is why a hot towel wrapped around it can cause the red rings of death to go away for a while.
