No, it will be a virtual handheld you want. Maybe the DS could do that in the future. I highly doubt for the Wii.

Why would Nintendo encourage you not to buy their current gen handheld? It plays GBA games, so why give you a way to play those games that makes them less money?

But you can't play Gameboy(original) games. It would be worth it to play Metroid 2 again. What an awesome game.

While that would be great as well, I dont see why Nintendo couldnt do it in the future on the Wii. There were a few great Gameboy and GameBoy Color games.

And pretty soon GBA games will be phased out. I could see at this point, when Nintendo is no longer releasing GBA games, the possibility of, at the very least, GBA games available on the Wii. I mean, why not, the GameCube had the GBA player. And there are a ton of great GBA games that Nintendo could make a killing by re-releasing them via VC.

Edit: It would also be very nice to have the ability, with DS-Wii connectivity, to download GBA games and transfer them to your DS to play on the go. Maybe even have it so you can update your saves and such, so if you are at home you can play on your Wii (maybe even using your DS as the controller), and then when you leave, you can play the same save on the go as well.

good point, so basically my question is will they have Game Boy and GB Color games on the VC?

The gameboy Advance, the Gameboy Advance Sp, the Gameboy Micro, the Nintendo DS, the Nintendo DS Lite, the Gamecubes Gameboy Player and even some DVD players can play GBA games. Is that not enough for you???

I'd like GameBoy and GB Colour games to be released on the VC.

Would it sell though? I mean the only game I'd really download is Pokemon.

I love that game! But there's also the old Sonics and Megaman and Golden Sun, etc.
