I saw in Youtube that the Wii is getting overheating problems, and I was wondering if I'm gonna have any of those problems.

My question is, if I have my Wii Laid down and with plenty of space all around will it overheat?

thanks for any assistance ^^

Depends if it gets warm easily. If its one of those Wii's that has a heating problem (meaning it gets warm easily) it will most likely overheat.

not all wiis do this though.

Laid down as in not in the stand that it came with?

Yeah, it might. I don't see why you'd want to lay it down like that, though..

no, laid down like in horizontal lol. I bought it a few weeks ago, I don't know if it helps much, but it is the "version" that comes with that rubber protection for the controller and the stand with a round plastic glass.

They make the fans you can buy to cool it off. But if you have plenty of space around it and its not getting hot to the touch almost, you should be fine.

I had a problem with overheating a while ago, but its easily prevented. Nintendo told me that placing your Wii on the ground can increase the chances of overheating, I think that was my situation because the air vent was clogged with dust. Easily fixed it though, all I needed was a toothpick to clear it up a bit.

If it gets overheated enough, the whole system will suddenly shut down completely. Though I'm sure if you touch the console you'll be able to tell if its unusually hot.

Wich position would be best for cooling by the way. Without the stand and on horizontal the air fans on the side have no obstruction whatsoever, but with the stand and on vertical even with the Wii connect on there should be some air flow as the hot air will get out in the top vent and "suck" air from the lower... but that's only true if the stand doesn't block the air flow in the lower vent...

what do you think would be the best choice?

yeah, after playing Zelda for 2 hours or so I touched the back of my console and it wasn't even warm... much different from the burning 30 minutes of Halo 360

Hmm can I just ask a question while I am here?

Now the Wii has 2 air vents, where is the actual heat meant to come out of? When my Wii in standing up in the stand, there is a vent at the bottom of the console, and one on the back of it.

Which one am I meant to feel to see if its hot?

Well, I would gess the top one, on the back. If it was meant to be the bottom one, Nintendo's engineers would have to be fired lol ^^

I've never heard of a Wii overheating. The day i got the whole family totalled 10 hours on it lol and it didn't even feel hot. As well as that Nintendo make indestructible consoles. My N64 still works perfectly and that's been dropped so many times. My Wii has been knocked over more times than I like but it still works perfectly.

Several of my friends with 360s have had theirs overheat and are on their 2nd or 3rd one. My wii never gets really hot or anything so i think you're good so long you give it some air

Well if I am meant to be feeling the vent on the back then, it is always cool.

I have played for 4 hours before and felt it and it wasnt even remotley hot, not even a little.
