Hey all, I have a Wii that is having some problems. I bought it from a guy on craigslist quite a while back, and it worked perfectly fine for awhile. But now I'm getting these disc read errors more frequently now when I put in a game. It loads up fine and I press start on the cd menu, then I get the green screen saying to take the disc out and restart the Wii. Sometimes I'll do this 2 or 3 times before the game starts properly.

Also, the Wii often times is loud, and it sounds like it's having trouble internally, like it's scratching the disc or something. So, if there are some problems with it, and some more serious ones arise, can I send it to Nintendo to get repaired, even if for a fee, or would I have to buy a whole new one?

that happens to me once in a while. I think you can for free or for a fee; one or the other.

Try using the Wii on its side and not lying flat. I had the same problems with an almost brand new wii until I turned it on its side. Haven't had 1 disc read error since.

My friend also said his is the same way.

That's weird. Mine's been vertical since day one, and I haven't heard as much as a hiccup out of it.

When you say vertical I think you mean the same thing as when I say on its side. The gamecube ports are on the top instead of the side. This is the good way.

try not to use a tissue or any type of paper towl. use a micro fiber cloth if you can get one "there cheap" or a SOFT used cotton wash cloth.tissues are bed for two resones. #1 thay have harsh matereal in them "thay are mad of wood products" and even though thay feel very soft thay can cause swirl/scratch marks that add up over time. #2 often thay have a skin lochainwich will leave smears.
