Is 3D here to stay on the DS Series or is it just a gimmick for this generation?

Personally i love the 3D effect and hope it stays for the next generation. imagine how awesome the 3D effect will look behind HD graphics

I think it'll stay, or they'll release two versions, one with 3D and a cheaper one without.

3D may seem gimmicky for most and does waste battery life, but it gives some games that extra something that differentiates it from other consoles. When a developer knows how to implement 3D in their game, it turns out amazing.

I love 3D, but I'm not so sure I want it on the next DS. Needing to be in that sweet spot is tough when playing some games. Also, the screen is too small for real immersion. You get some nice depth, but the pop out effects are pretty weak. And it's that pop out that I think could make 3D games a lot of fun.

I wouldn't be surprised if it stayed, I may not use it but it does offer something that other mobile devices (Like Tablets and Phones) don't and probably won't bother trying to do.

Would be even better if they improved it to be more like Cinema or TV displays, and had a 3D effect that really popped in movies.

My phone does glasses free 3D as well. I can take 3D HD photos. I can record 3D 720p video and I can watch/play 3D content.

I hope Nintendo drops the 3D feature on the 3DS successor. I think it's a headache.

I would like a 3DS successor with 720p 60 fps on a 7-inch screen & dual circle-pads. It would lose portability, but the performance would be worth it for me. Debut in 2015 or 2016 w/ Tegra 5 or 6 depending on cost controls.

I am pretty sure it will continue to be be a feature on the handhelds from now on.

The technology will be so inexpensive by the next generation that they will be able to add it to the system at little to no cost.

I think they will considering they decided to make the stupid 2DS which I honestly thought was 100% a joke when I first heard of it. I hardly ever use it because I find myself having to hold the DS in the perfect position or look at it in the perfect way in order to get the full 3D effect. To me it just got too annoying so I always play with it off. I don't care if they include it in the next one, but they better give me the option to turn it off.

More games should have this feature.
