Since there's generally only one Marion platformer and only one Mario RPG on every Nintendo system, since SMG counted as the platformer, SPM counts as the RPG (even though it was mostly platforming). My guess is that they won't make another this gen.
will nintendo ever make a RPG Paper mario for wii? or are we just stuck with super paper mario until next console?21Link21
I loved Super Paper Mario and the gameplay compared to Paper Mario and Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door. I found the gameplay to be very addictive and was happy with the direction the series went.
That being said, I would like nothing more than to see a RPG Paper Mario come out for the Wii. That would be so awesome!
Sadly, the game presented in SPM was how NOA and NOE originally thought a Mario RPG would work, and were baffled as to why it was turn based. When SPM outdid sales of every other Mario RPG (cheating horribly by promoting it as a Super Mario title, not an RPG) I think it pretty well sealed all future Mario RPG's as non-turn based systems.
On the only bright side, Monolith is TOTALLY creaming Intelligent System's ability to create RPG's under Nintendo with Soma Bringer. But because Nintendo of America is STILL keeping mum about translating it, I'm afraid we will have to settle for their "oops we mentioned this game in smash bros and that MUST be the only reason people are buying it because casual Americans and Europeans don't play RPG's" idealogy. It's the one aspect that must be fixed, or else it'll be a cold winter after the perhiphial game loses interest from customers.
