making these new gimmicky Donkey Kong games and bring us back the glorious platformer it used to be?

Seriously I hated all the jungle beat games despite some telling me they were "O.K.". I'v just played Barrel Blast now and couldn't stand 10 minutes of it without getting bored and almost destroying the controller because of how pathetic the controls were. I loved Donkey Kong country, I loved DK64, hell I even like Mario Vs Donkey Kong march of the minis better, please Nintendo, stop making these lame games and bring us back a kickass platformer it used to be

Rare tried their hardest to kill the franchise

The quirky control schemes have saved that franchise

If they do a platformer again just take him out of the jungle.

What are you talking about Rare tried to destroy the franchise? If it weren't for Rare the franchise would be NOTHING. Donkey Kong Country and DK64 were best sellers.

I agree. I want a true sequel to DK64! Or perhaps a new 2D Donkey Kong Country (it could be on DS, as they did with New Super Mario Bros.)

No Rare lacked the imagination to do anything but the same game time and time again

If Mario followed that path Mario 3 would have been exactly like Lost Levels.

Rare found what worked and lacked the ability to expand on it. They took Donkey Kong and drove him into the ground. It's only the control schemes which have kept the DK license afloat.

DK needs a new platformer that's nowhere near an island or a jungle.

Speaking of 2D Donkey Kong on the DS, I just remembered something.... has anyone played DK Jungle Climber? I heard it was actually pretty good, and done in the visual style of the Rare games.

DK64 was amazing. Obviously the other methods they used are complete failures.

They need to make a new DK 3d platformer that is unique and completely different from SMG.

Barrel Blast isn't THAT bad. It's actually quite fun. It's not masterpiece, but it's not that bad. It's pretty easy to tell what Nintendo Tokyo is going to work on after Galaxy; Jungle Beat 2.

People who say DK64 was the best are delusional. It was good, but it basically invented the term "collect-a-thon" and wasn't near as good as the three DKC's. DKC2 is the undeniable best.

People really don't seem to agree with you on this one. I guess the moral of the story is: People will buy the same game over and over again and be happy...if it works.

I personally don't know where DK can go other than the jungle. I mean, even in Donkey Konga, Jungle Beat and Barrel Blast he's in the jungle. So the only thing that is different is that you use bongo drums (or pretend to in Barrel Blast), and people don't seem to like it.

I can bet you though that most of these complainers haven't even given Donkey Konga or Jungle Beat a chance. It's decent fun if you ask me. I would like Donkey Kong to go back to his roots though, it just isn't quite the same.

He can go into space if he wants. I'm down with that.

Let me lay it out for you. He basically using not one good reason as to why DK64 sucks or why Rare try to kill this franchise. Neither statments make a drop of sense. Without Rare we would not have all the Donkey Kong Country Games and DK64 at that. All of these games INCLUDING DK64 got critical acclaim and huge financial success. DK Country had more diverse environments than DK 64 but they were all really great. Not to mention that Rare is doing all of this. I am not saying Donkey Konga games arent good, they are pretty fun actually but its merely using a well known franchise to fill the appearant gap in quality.

If they wanna do rythm based games use miis or at the time start a new franchise. For some reason Nintendo wont take this franchise in house like Zelda and Mario. DK Wii (theory) could be awsome if it was given the attention that Mario gets. DK Wii would just have to branch out of the platformer a little bit and probably have more emphasis on boss battles. I think DK could be very fun if it had a more complex level design thats main goal is to get to a boss. DK64 had too much collecting and that can be toned down if they would just make a another one for us.

I dont want to see dK go down in history as a product of side games and spin offs. He used to be a flagship title now most people only know him through SSB. We all know Nintendo could blow us away with a different styled platformer with DK as its main ape.

I used to like Pokemon until I got Diamond and Pearl. I was really disappointed with the Wi-fi since you weren't able to fight random people. Then Battle Revolution came out and got crappy scores due to being like Stadium with online attached.

Donkey Kong 64, as well as Donkey Kong country were near perfect games. Rare didn't kill Donkey Kong. If it wasn't for DK64, then Donkey Kong might have fallen into the cracks like Kirby did...

You just reminded me how much I hate Kirby......and Pokemon for some odd reason.

I hate kirby and pokemon as well!! lol

On another point how can you take DK out of the jungle he's an ape it's his home for gods sake!!

DK64 was a disappointment coming from the DKC series. Especially trading in co-op mode for those crappy multiplayer games. If they ever decide to make a platformer DK game on the Wii, I can only hope it's a DKC4 and not a sequel to DK64.

Rare tried their hardest to kill the franchise

The quirky control schemes have saved that franchise

If they do a platformer again just take him out of the jungle.

Huh? Rare made the best DK games. You have no idea what you're talking about.

DK belongs in the jungle you limp wristed funny boy

DK can't be taken out the jungle lol

a couple of years ago, you probaly thought mario can't be taken out of the earth. But Bam it happened and now he is in space. Nintendo can come up with amazing ideas. So i agree with jasonguy he should be taken out of the jungle.

although i understand where your coming from, doing what you say would then make a very thin line between mario and DK

Its not just for the sake of creativity. DK had much more diverse environments in DK Country series. He would go to factories, swamps, snowing areas. Very little of that was seen in DK64 and my only other gripe with that game is that there was TOOO much ti collect. Other than that DK64 was amazing and just because it was not a 2d sidescroller does not mean its not DK.

I really enjoyed DK64, one of my favorite games on the N64. Would love to see a traditional DK platformer.

I love the Donkey Kong Country series, and I hated Donkey Kong 64.

Donkey Kong Country 4? Yes please.
