I've been wondering lately whether or not Nintendo's next gen console will be backwards compatible with the GC. I assume it will be for Wii, but not for GC. What do you think?

I have no idea because Nintendo and inPhase have been researching Holographic Discs but it might not be implemented until Next Next Gen.

I said with neither, because Nintendo will probably come up with some new inavative control scheme again (that won't involve motion sensing) so it won't be possible to play Wii games on it.

Unless of course they make it so you can connect a Wii remote to the system (like GC controllers with the Wii)

Absolutely not

With Nintendo's new plans to release last gen games again on current gen format it's been made clear. Nintendo would rather remake the old games and make their money that way rather then letting you play your last gen library.

I'll guess that it will not be backwards compatible with either the Wii or Gamecube.

I doubt it will be backwards compatible with either. I bet Nintendo is kicking themselves for making the Wii BC with the GC, now that they are rereleasing old games.

I think both, since not every game is going to be playble with a Wii-remote + nunchuck, so they're going to need to make it so that GC controllers are compatible with it for games like that (fighting games is a big genre that really needs GC controller). Unless they make it so that only Classic Controllers will be compatible with the new system. But that'd kinda make me angry cause I like the feel of the GC controller better than the Classic Controller.

The next nintendo system will only be backwards compatible with the Wii. Any game worth playing from GC has been or is going to be ported to the WIi anyways (Metroid Prime, RE4, Prince of Persia, etc)

I'm from the future too. I came across time to have a son and call him John Conner...makes sense that I'm not the only time traveller, because in the future everyone loves editing forum posts.

^ lol imagine this being said in a really snooty old english accent. so serious, that one.

Anyway, I like to believe that technology will allow for both to be played on ninty's next system. That would be awesome
