I still think a SSB on DS would be really good, maybe that's what they are planning next - I dont see how they can do much better then Brawl ona home console.
No. They will make another one next gen. But I think I remember I read somewhere that Sakurai said that he thinks the next version should have major changes because they have gone as far as they could possibly go using the original formula, so I would expect a very different game.

Do some of you guys actually think that they will just end the series, Nintendo out of everybody? How many Mario and Zelda games have been made. No they will definitely make another one on the next Nintendo console.

Well, the series has already had three iterations so I cannot say with one-hundred percent confidence that there won't be any additional Smash Bros. games ever. But, at the same time I'd really like to note that I feel like with Brawl there are already so many modes and so much to do that it's really hard to exhaust what you can do with this game. I'm really against the idea of merely creating a sequel that would add modes or increase the number of characters in the roster -- all the sort of things that just simply fatten up the game. I'd like to avoid just doing that if a sequel ever came out. Masahiro Sakurai
That's what it looks like, changing the basic formula of the game and making it different (which I welcome).
Sakurai has said that he makes them as if its the last in the series. But with 3 games already, I'd say thats a fine philosophy as long as you don't hold up the end of the bargain. If there is to be another one, it will be both a very different game and on a different system.
in a couple of years??? no way. on the next nintendo home console? for sure ! obviously, why would they just stop making it when it's so popular? anyways Brawl owns!
I think Nintendo will develop a new Super Smash Bros. game when they make a new console. Edit: Whoa! I didn't realize this topic has been made in 2008 O_O I'm new here, sorry! :P
