i'm gonna be getting my 3ds this upcoming friday. i have never seen one in person, never held one and have never even see how the 3d effect looks. is it gonna blow my mind. or will it just be something i find exciting for 5 minutes.

It certainly IS awesome, especially if you play Resident Evil Mercs 3D.
When I first heard about it, I had these visions of this holographic system where the 3D graphics popped out and you could see it from all angles, like the message from Princess Leia in Star Wars. Really, it is more like watching a 3D movie. There is depth but it doesn't really pop out at you. That said, I do think it improves the graphics a lot. After 3DSing for a while, normal games seem like they are missing something.
Well it is at first like 'What the deuce?!'.
After that is still very impresssive, but some games do it better than others. For example OoT and Resi3D's 3D are amazing, yet some of the shovelware titles have poor 3D.

I have SS4 on ps3 as well. I bought a 3DS at launch with Pilotwings and SSF4. I LOVE Street fighter. However, while the game is good and faithful to the series, it is just too hectic for the 3DS imo. I'm actually one of those gamers that does NOT go nuts on a controller, I don't have any problem moving the 3DS out of line of site, but for some reason I have a hard time with the 3DS version of SSF4.
Also, if you actually PLAY Street Fighter, be prepared for people that abuse the touch control setup. I have mine set to the "pro" control and actually have a hard time finding a game, although to be fair I haven't played the game in months. But yes, the "lite" control setup voids SSF4 of any SF tactics. Charging cheats/etc...The game doesn't play like SF imo w/the lite controls.
That's my 2 cents.

thanks man, i might skip it until it gets a little cheaper. does it mess up the d-pad?With the current games out for it might "Wow" you, but it proply won't "Blow your mind". Now, in 2 or 3 years, I'm willing to bet that there will be ATLEAST a handfull of games that could potentially "blow your mind" and there probably be a lot of games that will "wow" you.
NOW what blew my mind on the 3DS was how good Netflix is on it, I mean it is quite litterally my plateform of choise now when using netflix for watching almost anything (esspecisaly Anime). Sound is good, picture quality is good aswell, load time is also pretty quick. Also the free trial was great.
I don't own a 3DS (yet), however I tried it in Best Buy and Gamestop. I only tried a demo version of the sky pilot game and a fighting game (not street fighters).
It didn't blow my mind per se, but it's really impressive. The graphics have dramatically improved, and I heard it may take longer time to get used to the 3D for some people.
Have fun!
I want one..
:)
It's really cool at first but then you get used to it. Definitely not mind blowing. Adds a pretty cool sense of depth to the gameplay. Don't expect stuff flying towards your face all the time. Definitely a worthwile investment at $170 with the great lineup of gaming coming out soon.
finally picked it up.the 3d was impressing but is not worthwhile since it only has that one sweet spot. Picked up zelda and its a very good game. other than that theres nothing else to play, except ds games. did not blow my mind but was cool when i first booted up zelda. i don't regret this purchase yet but i will if no other games come out that interest me.

Exactly. Zelda in 3D was sweet, for the first 1/2 hour. Then I had to switch off 3D. Still fun, but 3D is only l used every now and again.
Good graphics, but no new games keeps my 3DS on the shelf. Street fighter is my fav with 3D on.
Probably more than 5 minutes, probably less than a week.
Hi everyone =D I have a question actually =$ i really, Really want to play Zelda Ocarina of Time, but i don't have money to buy a 3DS.. are the '3DS' games still playable on a normal DSi ? please say it is Dxyanco69
Obviously no because the NDS doesn't have strong enough hardware. NDS:3DS is just like GBA:NDS another generation with stronger hardware, you can play NDS on 3DS but NOT 3DS on NDS
Answer also PMed as he wanted
It surely will for the first 5 minutes, after that is still good but you realize the 3D effect is not worthy the battery consumption.

Thanks for replying. Too bad x( i thought that because there's an Off switch on the 3DS'.. so that's why i thought that those games will be compatible with the DSi x( pff... But thanks for the info xPlease Log In to post.
