Well if we have a good FPS with good single and multi player
Perfect controlls
The best online mode ever
Then it could
Then it could
But what we have now are
Good controls, fun single player
So it might be in time
[QUOTE="GarageGamer02"]I really think it should, but it doesn't have the killer app like Halo or Killzone or Resistance.monkey2gowhat makes you say that??/ Because it doesnt its just that plain simple nintendo has something first going with PDZ but they lost that to some other company and they just let goldeneye just float away i only see metroid now. But too answer your question no way lol
You konw, what they need to do first is nail the controls. IGN says Metroid Prime 3 does, to the PC level 8) Once that comes out, developers will probably start copying them, and then the major issues of controls will be out of the way. Then it all comes down to the developers and how good they are at making FPSs. I'd say get Free Radical Design on a project, but apparently HAZE and the Lucas Arts Project is keeping them too busy to do anything else.
Regardless, once they nail the controls, it'll all be a matter of time. Far Cry actually had pretty good aiming, with a variety of options, it's just everything else about the game totally sucked :D
Regardless of how great you think the WiiMote controls are, the PC is the clear cut powerhouse of First Person Shooters. Aside from the crazy gfx performance you get from the PC under SLi, the keyboard and mouse combo has evolved too with laser precision.
However, if a shooter for the Wii makes Crysis look like a joke, I will eat my words.
never. the focus of FPS gaming is all about online competition... and online will never be a strong suit for Nintendo.c0mplexI dont see why, it would be easy to execute a good online strategy with teh wii, the infrastructure is there already for the VC...
never. the focus of FPS gaming is all about online competition... and online will never be a strong suit for Nintendo.c0mplexI've never got an FPS for online play unless its built as an online game like Counter-Strike or Joint Ops. I got HALO 2 to play the seqeul to the best console FPS ever made. But online play does make the experience better.
The Wii will never be an FPS system. It wasn't built from the ground-up with that goal, it doesn't have the right online network to really have a hit on its hands, and it's graphically inferior to the other consoles. There's no arguing with the reality that a game like Gears of War or Resistance is heavily steeped in the visual storytelling. Compromise the graphics, compromise the tight-controls, compromise the online play, and you lose what makes these games popular.subrosian
we have noidea how teh online system will truly work besides friend codes which is a bit of a setback, but taht doesnt mean the online is "compromised", teh visuals while not as great as ps3 or 360 can still pack a punch and the controls just need some getting used to, from the players and teh developers.
will it become the FPS king anytime soon, no way, but to say never is goign to far, there is a great possibilty.
I really think it should, but it doesn't have the killer app like Halo or Killzone or Resistance.GarageGamer02yet! i hope...
It will probably have some really good ones, but I think PC and Xbox 360 will continue to dominate that genre, unless an FPS that is simply mind-blowing is made.Xythos09true, shooters are mostly always about online and multi-player and awesome controls and graphics, Wii is valid in: Graphics (since it's 1.5x stong as Xbox and Halo 2 was most sold game) and controls, online and multiplayer, well not yet, but hopefully:?
Not a chance, I love my Wii and I thought Red Steel was great (daft reviews) But unfortunaly a good FPS is not just about control, its also about visuals... FPS games are what drive the graphics card market, they are top of the pile when it comes to graphics and FPS junkies, like myself crave amazing visuals, that is why we pay $500+ for graphcis cards.. FPS's on a pad suck but thats only half the battle, 360/PS3 will have more success with FPS due to visuals, this is what sells games... Wii will be great I look forward to some great FPS's but I will be getting my FPS fix from PC, the undesputed king of FPS and always will be..JackSherbakmaybe wii 2 will change that :P
Many of you mentions tighter controls. - Listen to this...
What if they remove the whole frame that makes you turn - and make full 3D movement instead. I mean, if you used the d-pad on the Wiimote to walk, the joystick on the nunchuck to turn, and at last the pointer only handled the gun and the aiming....
Now that is real 3D.

Wii is about creating a new inovative gaming expereince.. not trying to get to the top spot in an old genre... PC and Mouse/Keyboard will always be top of the FPS food chain, along with RTS's its what it was built for.... Wii will carry the genres nicely but those games will serves as tit bits to a new and unique gaming experience... games like Warioware, Wii sports, Elebits, Trauma center, etc etc......
I think let time show us what the Wii can do. The controls can be awesome i'm sure of it and in time we'll see some "revolution" in gaming. Theres lot of FPS coming our way like Metroid, Manhunt 2, Disaster. Let the devs figure out and "master" the new controls and I predict a BOOM! in the gaming industry.

The point is Wii can handle them just dandy and better than dual-analogue in terms of interface, PC isn't the only platform and there's no justified reason for Wii to be excluded. Even Iwata (head of Nintendo) stated how the controller could revolutionise the shooter genre. Obviously it still can't do things that the more powerful systems can bring to the tableWhen it comes down to it, it is the devs......
When the PC was ripe in gaming of FPS it had some wacky ways of control but then some talented devs found the best way to do it and then all the devs copied this and FPS on PC exploded to what it is today. This could happen on Wii there just needs to be ore devs making FPS and maybe more support from Nintendo to get some FPS in there.
My idea was to have Nintendo make a futuristic epic FPS that basically uses all the elements that we enjoy in an FPS. Then keep working on it until they get the control right which they will its only a matter of time. Please note MP3 is not a FPS it is a FPA and it is better that way. SO I stand by what I say when it comes to Nintendo being the ones to step up and make a first party FPS with great visuals using the new Unity Engine, great online using the Universal FC, great story that Miyamoto is sure to do, perfect the motion sensing controls, and you will have one of the best selling games ever.
Then dozens of devs will come to the Wii with great FPS. I know I sound overly optimistic but with ALOT of hardwork this could happen and slowly but surely is happening right now.
