It amazes me how often this question seems to come up. While nobody surfing these forums knows for sure, Bruno brings up a valid point. So far there have been 6 Mario Kart games and they've all been on their own system/hand-held. No system/hand-held has had more than one (unless you include a re-issue on the virtual console).

So while there is always a slim possibility, the answer is most likely no.

One per generation is enough. And How was the GBA one 2-in-1?

Exactly as he said. It had all the SNES tracks, and the new tracks they made for the GBA version.

1 per generation is how its been going since the beginning, unless hell freezes over I wouldn't expect any variation in it. The game has an insanely good shelf life for a console game so they need no reason to release multiple games per gen.

No, I would be amazed if Nintendo broke with a long standing tradition and released a second Mario Kart for the same platform. DS releases are generally strong so they don't need to prop up the market with another one.

I agree but I think everyone would love to see a Mario Kart sequel.

I doubt they would release another MKDS, they've always released one Mario Kart per system since the series began on the SNES.

It had all the Snes tracks in it, but they couldn't get all the snes effects in. (like the rainbow thwomps on rainbow road or coins)

I don't think so and if they do, I wont buy it because I have enough Mario Kart for this gen. ( I really like Mario Kart but more then 1 on a console is not needed)

Two reasons why they won't:

1. Tradition: One per system.

2. Mario Kart DS is selling like hot cakes STILL, regardless of it's 4 year old age. Why would they release another one and kill the sales?

TOP-SELLING SOFTWARE SKUs - APRIL 2009
Title / Publisher / Units**
1) Wii Fit w/ Balance Board (Wii) / Nintendo / 471,000
2) Pokemon Platinum (DS) / Nintendo / 433,000
3) Mario Kart Wii with Wheel (Wii) / Nintendo / 210,000
4) Wii Play w/ Remote (Wii) / Nintendo / 170,000
5) The Godfather II (360) / EA / 155,000
6) Resident Evil 5 (360) / Capcom / 122,000
7) New Super Mario Bros. (DS) / Nintendo / 119,000
8) Mario Kart DS (DS) / Nintendo / 112,000
9) Guitar Hero Aerosmith (360) / Activision Blizzard / 110,000
10) The Godfather II (PS3) / EA / 91,000

It's still making the top 10.
