Will there be any form of communication on 3ds anytime in the near future????

I have recently bought resident evil the mercenaries and the fact that the online has no possible way of communication makes the game feel like ur playing with AI. Does anyone know if Nintendo is planning to release any form of chat system for the 3ds anytime soon. If not whats the point of even having a friends list when theres no way to communicate and playing together is hard enough as it it?

I really hope they add some sort of voice chat in the near future. It would be very usefull for future games as most will feature online play. It would be great to have the feature before star fox comes out. OR even now to use before a SSF4 match. Even just to chat with a friend while running around in the water temple in ocarina of time

3DS needs some form of messaging. Someone (might have been Babugee) wanted to play Doa with me but he was only able to inform me through that friend list message. I don't check that list out that often so I missed it.
