Hi everyone,

Just a question? I have the DS Phat but it is beginning to not hold battery for that long and eventually willl have
have to get a new DS. Will I still be able to get a DS Lite when the new DS comes out? I really do not want to have to
pay 189 dollars for the new DS and do not like the idea of the new DS not having a GBA slot and a shorter battery life
due to the multi media like the web browser etc. I have always loved the fact that the DS was just a gaming device and not
trying to be a PSP by being a multi media device. I've always admired the fact that Nintendo really wanted to focus on games
and therfore wasn't trying to have other media on their consoles or portables. It would be different if they made a change in terms
of the Graphics (though I have to say the graphics on most DS games have been quite good). I also like the Crimson/black DS
and when my DS no longer works would like to get that one. Also was hoping that maybe they would continue to sell
the DS Lite but just have the price come down. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Yes. It's not meant to replace the DS Lite.

I think you will start to see the price of the DS Lite go down slightly (I've already seen some places in Toronto selling for $99). but I don't expect this new DS out for a while, maybe 2010.

If I'm not mistaken, the phat is still being sold, so I highly doubt that it will replace the lite.

Really? I haven't seen the Phat in any of the Best Buys, Future Shops, and Walmarts that I have been to.

IF the DSi replaces the DSl it would really suck. Then the only DS available to us would be the one that is more expensive than the PSP.

Do you think Nintendo would be dumb enough to replace a very strong console with a non-backwards compatible version that cost 50$ more?

From Wiki:
Nintendo describes the Nintendo DSi as a "third platform", suggesting that the console is not meant to replace the Nintendo DS Lite.Wikipedia
