I found an article that says some upcomming wifi games for DS will need to be payed for top play WiFi. A similar article on the Wii forums says something about it for the Wii, which is understandable, but for DS? I think the only reason Nintendo would do that is if they are planning to send out some MMOs or something. DS games with this feature will have a red logo that says "Pay and Play" instead of the blue wifi logo.

Do you think Nintendo is doing this because they plan on throwing us some good mmorpgs. Maybe the new ragnarok Online DS game will be Pay to Play, I might pay for that.

Heck yes, a portable mmo.

First of all it states no one knows what games will be charged for. Secondly, Nintendo Wi-Fi (any games with the blue icon) will be free even after P&P is implemented.

Pay and Play =/= Nintendo Wi-Fi, it's something different.

Oh no, hopefully we won't have to pay to play. Unless there is good MMOs coming out for DS.

If we did, they would have to have the best online EVER. I'm serious. Nintendo already has crap as online stuff. This is one stupidass move.

Nah, you'll only need to pay for MMOs like Maple Story and downloadable content like the new puzzles in Professor Layton. I think Nintendo will go the Sony route and make online play free but everything else comes at a cost.

I remember Nintendo saying that they would never charge for their online play, but that 3rd party game makers had the option to charge for online. I guess that is finally starting to happen.

To me, it really all depends on how the price of the subscription compares to the quality of the game. The important thing to remember is that it seems like most games will remain playable for free.

I'm pretty sure that they already said Ragnarok Online DS is cutting the online part out, making it single player (with multiplayer but no wifi), so we can count that out as the culprit. I have no idea about Maple Story DS though.

I'm pretty sure that it won't affect the U.S.
