At this point, it's all up in the air. The only confirmed third party games so far are Dragon Quest X/XI, a new Sonic, and Just Dance.

My guess is well see a healthy dose of third party to help launch the system. Depending on its launch success and sales i feel will be the real decider.

Probably the same amount of third party support you'd normally see on a Nintendo handheld, which is decent.

No. I know people want to believe that if Nintendo gets back in the game with a great console, then the glory days of gaming will return. What they forget is the glory days of gaming came about not beause of Nintendo but because of the PS2 basically. Look at the Wii, as an example. The Wii was their best selling console in ages and what kind of games did that get? It got some really good Nintendo titles....and then some of the most god-awful garbage third parties could dump on it for a quick buck. And sorry, but I don't blame the motion controls of the "gimmick". The problem is developers, like Nintendo themselves, see Nintendo consoles as toys for little kids and so quality is not worth their time. If they dump crap on the console and it sells, they will pump out more crap. If it doesn't sell, they just point fingers and fall back on the whole "See! People only buy Nintendo games!"

The NX could be the best selling console of all time...it's still not going to get much third party support. Not serious support anyway. We will get a stream of just dance titles, Mario-party rip offs, crappy kids movie tie-ins, etc.

@ZIMdoom: Itll do just fine, it dont have to be a dudebro adult male console like the others. Its just fine catering to all genders and all ages. Entertainment comes a dime a dozen nowadays. We dont need 50+ dudebro games, plenty of devices if thats what your looking for.

@iandizion713: I hope you are right, but if you look at Nintendo's past and where they are today, I'm not so confident. Even the Wii had a very small section of any store devoted to the console's games. And aside from Nintendo's titles, most of it was embarrassing. And then I look at Nintendo. Remember when NES had 3 great Mario titles released? WII had 2? Wii U had a 2d Mario which is arguably cloned from the Wii and a 3d title cloned from the 3DS. Both were great Mario games, as usual, but neither is particularly memorable for most gamers due to their lack of originality. Where was Metroid this gen? Splatoon is easily my defining game from the entire generation (tons of great games on other consoles too, but nothing quite like Splatoon in my opinion) and Nintendo almost seemed shocked and unprepared for how well that game did. Mario Party 10 was pretty terrible and my kids still would much rather play MP9, but why make a good MP game when you can put out two, weak, half-arsed games like MP10 and ANimal Crossing Party? Pikmin 3 was ok but the controls were not great and this was also the game Nintedo came out admitting it was challenging for them using modern graphics like "shaders"....something other consoles and developers have been doing for ever already. My kids had a blast with Nintendoland, but why expand on that idea at all when you are Nintendo and just can't be bothered? And don't get me started on the new Zelda title which should have came out 2 years ago except didn't because Nintendo. I still love their games and as I've said, games like Splatoon show me there is still a bright light of hope to be had...but knowing Nintendo these days I fully expect to never see another Splatoon sequal. For me the company has become an out of touch joke and most of the issues they've had can really only be explained by saying, "because Nintendo."

You say they will do just fine. Maybe you are right. But the evidence doesn't really support that. Many developers praised the Wii and Wii U for trying something different and for the potential and possibilities. Hell, they do that for every new console ever released in the history of consoles. It doesn't mean anything much of the time. Every Nintendo console has sold worse than the one before it. The Wii Being the exception. But even the Wii couldn't move games aside from Nintendo's own. So the question is about 3rd party support. I think it is a mistake to hope for more than what little there is now. And at this point, I'm not even confident Nintendo will support their own consoles much either beyond launch. But again, as an original NES fan who has owned every Nintendo console, and who has kids who LOVE Nintendo games as well...I honestly hope I'm wrong and blown away by NX. But considering the odd launch date and the complete darth of information with less than 6 months until launch, I'm not holding my breath anymore.

@ZIMdoom: Again, plenty of entertainment to keep you happy. If you cant find something on Nintendo devices that you enjoy, just go look some place else. Not everybody wants to play dudebro games that cater to adult males. But for those who do, plenty of games to play, pick your poison.

i dont think itll get many of the big multiplats. even if it gets some they will be compromised in some way.

so it really depends on the deals nintendo makes for exclusive content. i hope it will be better than the wiiu and i really hope its more global rather than the really strong japanese focus of the wiiu and 3DS.

i dont see many making games (especially big games) of their own volition for the NX.

but really itsll be a box for nintendo games and any 3rd party games will be a bonus.

Nintendo is not trying to be like both Sony and Microsoft, they want to be different from anybody else. How many older gamer have an Wii U, you don't see older gamer buy Nintendo games. I see kids between the ages of 7-12 buying Nintendo games because that there target audience is. The reason why both Sony and Microsoft have a strong 3rd party support because older gamer buy those games for those systems. Without 3rd party support Nintendo will be out of businesses of making consoles. There bread and butter right now is the 3DS and they have a lack of 3rd party support but most of there audience are kids. The game industry have changes since the NES days and Nintendo is not keeping up with the times. People who grew up on NES, Super NES and even N64 had move on to PS4 or Xbox One now.

Probably not, but it does have a few things going for it that the last few Nintendo systems haven't (this is assuming recent leaks pan out).

  • Thier handhelds still get decent support, especially from Japanese publishers.
  • Nvidia hardware is familiar to a wide range of developers. Ports will be cheaper and easier to do.
  • Touch screen will ease IOS and Android ports as well.

We'll see. Nvidia's Shield had decent support considering how niche it was, so there is some small amount of hope.

I hope so, but Nintendo are positioning itself to be ready for no 3rd party support. :P

Will this help the 3rd party support? Hopefully it will have decent 3rd party support.

From the Mobile-Handheld market? Coolyfett says yes. The NX will get all the great games from iOS, Android and all the devs that dont have the Vita to develop for will move over to the NX. Today is the day we get a better look.
