will wii ever make an external hd or use the sd slot more

I was wondering if anyone thought nintendo might consider an external hd to play vc games fromand demos. right now th sd slot is next to useless. it would be nice if we could at least run vc games from it to free up internal memory.

deleting and redownloading vc titles really sucks. an external hd to hold and play them all would be so awesome. has anyone heard anything? i know the extra space would be great for demos at the very least

As much as i like Nintendo, for they are my overall favorite game company, they are very stubborn. If i had to be truthful, i highly doubt Wii will ever get a an external HDD or be able to run off SD cards. And i don't think Wii will ever have Online Voice Chat.

No, I'm not being a sarcastic jerk, i really don't think we are going to get those 2 great features until the next Nintendo console, but you can always pray. Even though they don't have an HDD or voice chat, i will stick by Nintendo, for I'am a fanboy and a victim to society.

I can understand doing Campaigns for games like Zack and Wiki and No More Heroes. But what we really need to be Campaigning about is Voice Chat and no more Friend Codes. Anyone wanna help me start up a campaign?

I'd compaign for that anyday. Maybe when Nintendo gets their act together with better online games, which we should be seeing with Kart and Brawl, they might consider it more.

Do you follow the Smashbros.com updates? As much as i like Nintendo, i really am doubting Brawls online. You can see the name or communicate with the person you're going against what so ever if you battle a random person. It's just like playing a computer.

Yeah, I see what you mean, there's also that update a few days ago about when a player disconnects, they turn into a CPU player and no one knows. I still think playing real people is a lot better, the computers were too easy to predict moves because they always do the same kinda stuff. I've always played Smash Bros games with my brother, he was always a much better challenge because you never really know what's gonna happen.

A few months ago I read an interview with one of the majors at Nintendo (I don't remember who, but it was not Reggie. It was someone either higher up or just over at Japan). They were asked if the Wii would ever support a hard drive or utilize the SD card more efficiently (as in loading VC games directly off of an SD card). Whoever that was said no, that there are no plans for that and that they don't see there is any need for that.

I honestly don't remember where I read that. I have too many subscriptions these days and physical magazines and web sites are starting to blend. But I do remember reading that (and btw, I was totally paraphrasing).

They will release an updated model of the wii with a hard drive in a year or so's time. I would put money on it, as the wii seems a lot cheaper than other consoles users wouldn't kick up too much of a stink.Gribb85

Unless really large file sizes become available,I think SD cards will suffice.If Nintendo releases an update that allows us to play game data right off the SD card,and use bigger card sizes,we won't need a hard drive.

I have a feeling a hardrive for the Wii will launch eventually; maybe near the end of 2008 or sometime in 2009. I think this because as more and more online based games come out, there will be a larger desire for DLC (more maps in FPS games; stuff like that). Activition already wants some way to give Guitar Hero 3 players more songs, and bringing out a hard drive would be perfect.

Hopefully, Nintendo will offer some kind of plan for existing Wii owners. For example, they could offer a plan where for a small price you could ship your Wii in to Nintendo and they would place the hard drive in. I'd like them to do it for free, but knowing Nintendo, it would definitely cost something...maybe $50.

This may sound pretty if not really stupid but i sort of threw together an online system thing without using friend codes and an idea for a hard drive and I am going to mail it to Nintendo. I hope they at least consider it)

I wish someone would ask Miyamoto directly why they dont utilize very basic tools like a headset or HDD.

If we keep voicing what we want from Nintendo as a game company, than it can happen. I'm going to start up a union, the Nintendo Campaign Union. Anyone who wants to join can track me and i will invite them in. I'm going to start campaigning for a new Online System from Nintendo, and i guess an HDD, although i don't really care for one that much.

As much as i feel like a troll, I'm just doing my best to try and make my favorite VG company even better. And even if i get banned in the process, oh well. I will keep coming back. If you're with me, track me. If you're not, thats cool too.

EDIT: Ok well, being i'm as stupid as i'am. I can make a union do to my level. So who else wants to make a union?

I said that in the post above. And thats what I'm gonna try to do. But i can't do it alone. GameSpot is a good place to start, after we campaign here at GameSpot, we move on 1 site at a time, but if we can get a big enough campaign going, we can tackle multiple sites at once.

ya Ill help. I think getting some influential Wii users on these boards like Wintry and people like that would help also it might be better to wait for the holidays I dont know though.
