If so, where? I haven't seen any special items or deals on pre-ordering the 3DS as of yet. Usually GameStop or Walmart have something though.
This topic is locked from further discussion.
You're right it is pretty expensive for a hand held. But there probably won't be a price drop until the PSP 2 is getting ready to launch later this year. And even then I don't see a massive price drop, so I figure there is no reason to wait if I'm going to get it.
I nice pre-order package deal with a game would be nice though! lol
Nope, not interested in giving Nintendo 250 to do their R&D for them
The 3DS has too many problems right off the bat and it's not even released yet, there was as little as 9 months between the times the DS and the DSLite were released. I'm happy enough waiting for the 3DSLite.

This just in, November 2004 to June 2006 was 9 months. Can I get on your time? but seriously, anyone who figures Nintendo is going to crap out a 3DS lite before 2013 is going to be waiting a lot longer than they think.[QUOTE="Jaysonguy"]This just in, November 2004 to June 2006 was 9 months. Wow, guess I'm not talking about that region then huh?
Everyone was saying there wouldn't be a new DS out in a year either and then what happened?
Oh yeah the DSLite
Then they said there'd never be a new handheld while the DSLite was doing so well and then...yeah, the DSi
Then people were saying that there's no way Nintendo changes anything and what did we see 6 months later?
DSi XL
The 3DS has more problems then any Nintendo handheld before it, expect a new version quickly

Wow, guess I'm not talking about that region then huh? Shortest time between launches in any region is 13 months, Thats thanks to the 6 month delay for China. hardly the same as 3DS lite showing up for this holiday season

DSi XL DSi and XL serve 2 very different markets. they are hardly interchangable.

The battery? and I'm sure your going to invent a new battery cemestry and let nintendo in on that shortly? Viewing angle? Not only is it a relitivly new tech but I would place money on the fact that you have yet to try one to say one way or the other wether its a problem. Lacking launch lineup? hardly a hardware problem.
-_-

False. Try two-years. And it was three-years after that the DSi was released. I'm thinking that if a 3DS Lite is even released, you're looking at a minimum of two-years after launch, and probably longer.

Nope, not at all. Not too sure what you're talking about to be honest
July 2005 is when the DS launched in some places
The DSLite was launched in March of 2006 so that's how many months? 8, I was even off a month
Also 2 years? That's interesting because it never happened anywhere
Japan saw the DS on December 2004 and saw the DSLite on March 2006 = 14 months
The US saw the DS on November 2004 and saw the DSLite on June 2006 = 20 months
Europe saw the DS on March 2005 and saw the DSLite on June 2006 = 15 months

Yeah, that doesn't exactly work out as Nintendo releasing the DS Lite 9-months after the DS. That might be how it happened to play out in whatever territory you're referring to, but that's really not the same thing.

O.K., so 1 1/2 to 2-years. Still not 9-months, is it? You also have to keep in mind that the 3DS is built on all the R&D Nintendo has been doing on the DS line for the past several years, so from a design standpoint, it's significantly more solid than the original DS ever was, so it's very unlikely we're ever going to see a radical redesign of the system. For instance, look at how minor the changes were from the DS Lite to the DSi. Whereas the DS to DS Lite was practically a "must have" upgrade, the DS Lite to DSi was less compelling and primarily appealed to new customers. Frankly, I don't think we'll see any substantial changes until the successor to the 3DS is released 7-years from now.
No way. I don't have 250 US to blow right now. And if I did? I still wouldn't get one. I'm gonna play the waiting game until:
1. More games come out.
2. Maybe a price drop. Maybe.
3. More colors come out.
I pre-ordered Cosmo Black from amazon. This is going to be my first ever DS so I'm really excited for it. I will probably end up buying all the older great DS games while i wait for the 3ds games I really want!F0urTwentyGood idea, man.
I just pre-ordered mine £219.99 on Amazon UK in Black, but they have a pre-order price guarantee so if it drops in price at all thats the price I will pay.
Heck yeah (haven't done it yet but I just haven't gotten the chance to). People are saying that they won't pre-order because they don't want to pay $250 already. Well, I don't either and that's why I am pre-ordering. I can go to Gamestop and reserve one, and keep putting more money down on it whenever I have spare cash. Then on launch day, I can trade in my DSi and pick up my 3DS and a game without paying almost $300 at once (it's three hundy after sales tax, depending on what state you live in.sry if I'm being disrespectfulto any non-US peeps on the forum). I know some people won't do Gamestop though after bad experiences with them.
As for a 3DS lite? I've heard many people (in real life) say around he launch of a new Nintendo system, "I'm going to wait for the next version!" You know what? After about months they just gave in and bought the version of the system/console that was already out. Even if 2012 does bring in a 3DS lite (I'm thinking more of a Wii sequel) would it be so bad for you to sell your 3DS on ebay/craigslist/gamestop and buy the new version? Especially if the lite version is less money like the DS lite was.

I haven't pre ordered one yet but I am thinking about picking one up at launch. I also like this idea of buying old DS games until good 3DS ones are released.
Oh brother! You are joking right? Please people stop acting so childish, What problems the 3DS has? 5 Hours battery is not a problem considering what it does plus you can turn off the wireless, 3D and brightness and the thing can last 10 hours. Don't begin saying: what's the point of turning off the 3D? Seriously people are not interested that much in the system for the 3D, they are looking for the great games, graphics etc. The original DS was very, very bulky, the screens weren't well positioned, weighted a too much, had cheap buttons, giant DPad and the screens were very dark with almost no light. The 3DS is the same size as a DSi, has more screen brightness, great Dpad , the cameras, sd slot, everything the DSi has plus more. Oh and it doesn't weight to much so it doesn't have tons of problems. I YOU CAN'T OR DON'T WANT TO BUY IT THEN THAT'S YOUR PROBLEM. THERES NO NEED TO INVENT PROBLEMS MORE FOR A GADGET IS NOT AVAILABLE TO PURCHASE RIGHT NOW.Nope, not interested in giving Nintendo 250 to do their R&D for them

I really doubt we're going to see a "3DS Lite". Maybe a 3DSi with minor changes but certainly not a radical redesign like the DS Lite was to the DS.
You're right. These people who can't afford the 3DS are just inventing problems without owning or trying the 3DS plus as you said if Nintendo launch a new version it will take a long time and it won't be that much different than the original. The 3DS has more screen brightness so that's not a problem, is the size of the DSi so that's not a problem, has downloadable contend; in short everything the current DS's have plus more.Nope, not interested in giving Nintendo 250 to do their R&D for them

GAME being the greedy sods they are are still charging £229.99. The rather obscure value of 202 makes me think they're doing some serious thinking about how to make a decent profit but also price match their competition. GAME know that people will desperately pay any price when stocks run out elsewhere, and I reckon they'll have stock on release day, which will then be snapped up by people who didn't pre-order from cheaper sources. Clever but greedy.I just pre-ordered mine £219.99 on Amazon UK in Black, but they have a pre-order price guarantee so if it drops in price at all thats the price I will pay.

Just need to decide on games now. OOT and PES 2011 look to be my choices (I'm going to guess that these will be launch titles, but if not, it's not a problem really), but I might pick up some DS games also.
