I'm a 360 player, had one since release, i have nothing against WII's, but i hate ps3's, but nows not the time. So i get mail today, and expect it to be a scam, telling me that i won a WII just by buying somethign at blockbuster and it entered me in a sweepstakes. Call up blockbuster, guy tells me its legit, call a different blockbuster to confirm, he again tells me its legit, so i send in my info and got the confirmation and am currently waiting for it. (4-5 weeks ftl ) So back to the topic, is there any reason that i would find myself having fun with this WII? I don't want to go out and buy games (40-60 dollars each) for a system i wont use. Or should i just sell it on craigslist/ebay and buy something i know i'm going to like? I've never played a wii, nor even held the controller, so i have no idea what it is like. Also, is there something like xbox live/playstation network for it?

There are so many good Wii games that you can only get on the Wii. (Animal Crossing: City Folk, Mario Kart, Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Super Mario Galaxy, etc...)

try it out. It's certainly a different experience but it can be quite fun. though mostly when you have people to play with.

Its an ok console, but it depends on you. I have one console and its more than enough for me and even though there are some games that i would like to play but cant. Anyhow its free so no matter what you do its a win win situation.

Keep it and buy a few games. It's a decent machine with a number of good games, such as Mario Galaxy, Brawl, Zelda, No More Heroes, Boom Blox and more.

You should put up a game collection list in your profile so I can tell what games you like. All I know is that you like GoW. The Wii doesn't have that many of those kinds of games, and if you don't want to buy games for a system you're not sure you'll use, then you can try renting games (hey, you might win another Wii!) like No More Heroes, Call of Duty: World at War (provided you don't already have it on 360), and Metroid Prime 3 before you give up and sell it. There are some promising games of that sort coming out soon in 09, like MadWorld and The Conduit. If you haven't already played them on other systems, there's RE4 with pointing controls that are surprisingly great and there's Bully from Rockstar. If you like sports games there's Madden NFL 09 and MLB Power Pros.

But most of the good games in the Wii's library right now are E/T rated where you don't shoot things. They're great games, but unlike the rating would suggest, not for everyone.

Actually, compared to XBL and PSN, the Wii has the best retro-gaming library. You can get games for many of the old systems: NES, SNES, and N64, plus non-Nintendo systems, like Genesis, Master System, Turbografx, and Commodore. As for new downloadable games... not so much. There are some great titles there (like the Strong Bad games, World of Goo, LostWinds, Tetris Party, etc.) but it's mostly a deluge of shovelware casual puzzle titles.

It depends on the types of games you like to play. But if you have it, you should keep it. 360 and Wii compliment each other well.

You forgot it can play GameCube titles as well. There are lots of great GC games if you missed playing any of them.

Aw man, you're right. Grawr, can't believe I forgot that. I plead hangover. It's enough that I remember where I put my keys. Thanks for the correction. :)
