I was about to create a new thread about this game, but I will just write here what I have to say. So, I just played this game for a few minutes, and I was very impressed. So, here comes a micro-review...
Graphically, the game is much, muchbetter than the first one. The worms` sprites look much cleaner, they are animated much smoothly, and, as a very pleasant surprise, now all the backgrounds have turned, from the blurred bitmap images from the first game, into cartoon-like realtime 3D rendered scenery which are not static, but have animated objects like pirate shipsmoving around, or a giant submarine floating in the arctic-themed level etc. Also, both screens are used for gameplay, but the minimap is gone.
The engine is much better, the AI works much faster,if you remember the first one, the worms took a lot of time to'think' just to make some stupid move.In this sequel, they think fast and make very precise and spectacular hits (they also do dumb stuff, but that`s probably just to keep the difficuly normal).
There is a lot of customisation involved, too. You get to name eachof the worm, choose their sound scheme, their skin tone (useful if you like some martian-gray worms), their winning pose, the team`s logo (there are predefined ones, you don`t draw it yourself like in MK:DS)
The arsenal is a bit bigger compared to the first game.
The soundtrack is nice, it features some goofy audio samples, it`s quite impressive they manage to fit all that on a tiny DS cartridge.
I would give it an 8/10. Great to play on the go, but still has some few bugs, some problems with the 'camera', some with the controls.
Sorry about my English, not my native language.

whoa, nice mini-review. I'm probably going to get this game when it comes out, it looks fun. plus I need a strategy game for my DS still.
lol I love how you can change the worms' skin tone :D
The first one has received nothing but ill scores and reviews from various websites due to its blatant design and poor gameplay experience, giving it a "spin-off" rank in comparison to its PC and console counterparts.
This new Worms : OW2 incarnation for the DS is supposed to be a fully featured, expanded game that improves upon the original in all aspects, in addition to WiFi competitive play.
Don't touch the first one, and wait for the US release of Worms : OW2. I myself will pick it up when it hits North American shores, at a slated release date of September 4, 2007.
