I recently purchased a copy of WarioWare for the Wii after seeing that it was GameSpot's top rated Wii game with a score of 9.1.   When I started playing the game I must admit that I was entertained with the mini-games and insane visuals.  However, after a little over 1 hour I had beat the main story mode.  I realize that the game can be replayed but it's just not that exciting when you've already beat 90% of the minigames.  Can anyone explain how a game that can be beat in one hour can receive a score of 9.1 from GameSpot????  Their review is the MOST misleading review I've ever seen and I want to warn everyone here to not believe the hype!  This game is a rental, and a short rental at that.  I just wish I could take the game back and get something actually worth $50!  Shame on you Gamespot, you completely blew this review!

So you're annoyed that one persons veiw of the game isn't the same as yours? I got it at UK launch (which was before the US launch) and I'm still playing it today, I love it. In my reveiw I gave it a 9.4.

I guess you didnt really read the entire review then...here is the main jest of it...

"...Playing through the main game and seeing the story sequences is a pretty easy task, especially if you're familiar with the series and how it plays out. You can easily blast through it in a couple of hours. Of course, seeing the credits isn't really the end of the game because you'll have seen only a fraction of the available microgames. Once you've beaten an area, going back to it puts it into an endless mode where you see how long you can play before running out of lives. You'll also unlock modes that throw together all of the different games into one big jumble, as well as more dedicated games, such as a behind-the-back, polygonal rendition of Balloon Fight's balloon trip mode. The game also has four multiplayer modes, which serve up the different microgames in different ways. All of the multiplayer modes are pass-and-play, using only one Wii Remote. This allows you to have up to 12 players in some cases, but because you'll be frantically passing the controller around, Nintendo's constant dedication to making sure that you're wearing that wrist strap just seems impractical here, if not entirely impossible. There's just not enough time to take off the wrist strap and pass the remote to another player, who then has to put the wrist strap back on, all before the next game begins."

So, if you can't read, then who's fault is it for you buying it, expecting something that obviously was not what you had 'thought' it would be...Hmmmm. Sound like you screwed yourself, not N or the game or Gamespot...maybe you shoudl have also read soem other reviews from other sites or even user reviews....Your loss.

very well put, all reviews are the same thing, you can hardly ever take a review into consideration for games like this, and also, look at ET and RS, many people thought they deserved much more than GS gave them...

What bothers me is that they were able to give it a better rating than Zelda. Gamespot's reviews are getting worse as time progresses.

I did read both Gamespot's and the player reviews many times.  When I mean that I "beat" the game, I mean that I beat the story mode plus the extra bonus levels you get after the credits.... still I'm not impressed.  Also, in reference to the multiplayer.  Gamespot seems to boast about the fact that you can have up to 12 players.  However, if you've tried the multiplayer you realize that using one remote and passing it back in forth is extremly frustrating when you only have a short time limit.  I realize that Gamespot did comment on this when referring to the problem with the wrist strap but in my opinion the multiplayer is also seriously flawed.

I guess I'm just really curious as to what everyone see's in this game.  I can't imagine any game with such a short amount of content ever justifying a score over 9.0.....especially an Editors Choice Award.   Maybe someone can enlighten me on some amazing aspect of this game that I haven't found yet.

I understand that. But still. Many people don't look at it like that. Many people look at the scores of 8.8 and 9.1 and think, "Well Wario Ware got a 9.1, so it must be better." I happen to be one of those people. When I see a higher score, I see a higher quality game. Therefore, seeing Wario Ware get a higher score basically shows most people that it's the better game. Most people out there would disagree with that.... I know I do.

How I miss these posts. NOT!!! There used to be one made every five minuites, havent you guys allready talked about it enough?? Just accept it. Also, People who compare it to zelda are idiots. zelda is an adventure, warioware is a collection of minigames. The two are totaly diferent, you cant compare them.

if you only read one gaming site review its your fault. i always go to multiple sites (ign, 1up...ect) and read their reviews before i can judge wether i want it or not. its peoples opinons, i could say OMFG farcry is awesome! but i could be the only one who believes it...it sucks to everyone else, and thats true. so read other reviews!

I think you need to get out more! Instead of finishing a game in one hour. Second of all I think the review is not misleading, you should have done the research before purchasing a game that was a collection of mini games. I have Warioware for the DS, and even though it's a short game it has ton of replay value. So then I would consider buying it for the Wii. The review is in no way misleading... *sigh*

I wouldn't say this is Gamespot's worst rating ever, I think it deserved what it got. This game was made for the Wii, it wasn't a Gamecube game ported to the Wii. It mad excellent use of the Wii-mote and had a fantastic visual style. Zelda on the other hand while it did look and play great, the controls just felt tacked on. Besides as someone else pointed out go to other sites for more reviews, and always check the game's forum, believe it or not each game has it's own forum. Ask people's opinions there.

look here...you have got to take in consideration what we all purchased a few months ago. (at least a few of us) We all bought the Wii for something new and fresh, instead of highpowered graphics, and Nintendo delievered. The Wii-mote is by far the coolest idea in video game history, you have to admit. So you look at Zelda which uses the Wii-mote for mostly a couple things, such as sword fighting or what not, then you got Wario Ware which is completely based on the Wii-mote. Everysingle thing you do is done by the Wii-mote, so you have to take in consideration what raters are looking at for the Wii... Zelda TP could be played on ANY system, while Wario Ware cannot. Think about it. Just like Gamespot said, The wiimote and warioware are a perfect fit.

Someone doesn't see eye to eye with you, hurry let's alert the media.

A good game is a good game, if you want to plow through a game that's your business.
You can finish all the Mario games in under 5 mins too, going on your logic they all suck too.

Smooth moves is the best party game on the Wii and even the next mario party may have problems beating it unless it really mixes things up.  I would hardly say it was the worst review GS have ever done, the Zelda reviews for Wii and GC were worse for a start but at the end of the day reviews should not be the one reason you buy a game.

I like it. While I never thought that I had got my moneys worth with touched, and traded it in after completing it, I don't think I'll ever trade in Smooth Moves. The Wario Ware games are like Marmite in my opinion, you either love them or hate them.

The reviewers here at Gamespot are merely doing their job which is rating games based on their opinion. Their word is not the word of God. I hate salads and just about anything else a rabbit would eat yet my girlfriend hates anything that was once alive, which one of is wrong? Or could it be neither one of us is wrong we just have diferent tastes. Kind of like the reviewers here have their opinions and you have yours. Like I said their word is not the word of God, please don't treat it as such.

I think the problem is that many people judge what games they buy on reviews. I do the same but you you have to look at more than one. Get yourself a second opinion. IMO Smooth Moves is a great game. Is it a 9.1..............no more like 8.3-8.6. Is it better than LOZ TP.............hell no but if you would look at more reviews you would find that the majority feels the same.

Just to let you know after beating that little single player tutorial thing you get multiplayer and there are still more areas to unlock in the single player. Also each area has like 20 or more games. If you have friends invite them over to play it is a great game with friends. I agree that 9.1 is high but it is a good game overall.

yeah lets see you complete WarioWare first time in an ad break....i'm on about the first time you play it...warioware is probably the same length for everyone, it is the least difficult game i've ever played, i've owned all the wariowares i think they are fun but i didn't buy this one because i hate the length for me it wrecks the game, i don't find it a game i want to come back to and keep playing

Most people think passing the remote around makes the hectic fun better.  Maybe you should rent before you buy.

Zelda may not be the best one in the series but it is still an amazing game
I own both zelda and warioware, both are fun, but its better to spend 50 bucks on a 50-70 hours game than max 15hours game

btw did you completly play through zelda... cause i dought you did

I believe most of the game's score is based on the multi-player. Your personal opinion does not make this a bad review. Jeff loved the multi-player. You didn't. Why whine?

If I see a Jeff review I don't even bother reading it.

I liked Wario Ware at first but after 1-2h it's not that fun anymore, it's not that good even in multiplayer because the minigames are no fun since they are so easy it's pretty much impossible to fail if you know what to do...

I would give it a 7 just cause it's so damn crazy fun at first.

Maybe only 15 hours for you, this game is mostly a multiplayer game, still 15 hours x 4 people = 60 hours.  Two years from now, my copy of Warioware will probably have clocked several times as many hours as my copy of Zelda.

I'm skeptical of how long you've played this game if you say it's easy, because it gets devilishly hard when you get to higher levels at fast speeds?

This is why I advise people not to base purchases solely on reviews ;) This game pales in comparison to many Wii games, such as Zelda and Excite Truck.

I own both zelda and warioware, both are fun, but its better to spend 50 bucks on a 50-70 hours game than max 15hours game

Maybe only 15 hours for you, this game is mostly a multiplayer game, still 15 hours x 4 people = 60 hours.  Two years from now, my copy of Warioware will probably have clocked several times as many hours as my copy of Zelda.

Game play-time doesn't work like that...Illegal Math! WarioWare > Zelda was just a "screw you" review imo. But who cares? :)

"So, if you can't read, then who's fault is it for you buying it, expecting something that obviously was not what you had 'thought' it would be...Hmmmm. Sound like you screwed yourself, not N or the game or Gamespot...maybe you shoudl have also read soem other reviews from other sites or even user reviews....Your loss."

If you and another guy work together on a project at work and it takes 10 hours, you each get paid for 10 hours, don't you?  What if your boss said that since it was a 10 hour project he only has to pay for 10 hours of work so you and the other guy have to split it?

If you're trying to put a quantatative value on leisure based on how many hours it lasts, you have to include how many hours it lasts per person.  If Zelda had a two player cooperative mode you could say it lasted 100 hours because two people playing for 50 hours is 100 total hours of fun.

[QUOTE="jdeurlein"]What bothers me is that they were able to give it a better rating than Zelda. Gamespot's reviews are getting worse as time progresses.codezer0
