Worth it to upgrade my oldskool DS to a Lite?

I still have my original with no plans of changin. I didn't know it had better sound. My only issue with it is it's hard to play outside in the sun because you can't see the screen. Since DSLite has a brighter screen it may work better with it's bright out.roboccs

Depends how long you've had it, if you got it this year then no way but if it's a year or two old then I think it's worth the upgrade.

The screen is the biggest part, it's like going from a regular TV to an HDTV. The screen is so much better on the DSLite compared to the regular DS. That in itself is the main reason to upgrade.

Truth be told the DSLite isn't as loud as the normal DS but it sounds better. While the max volume on the normal DS sounds a little distorted with some games that never happens with the DSLite.

Playing in the sun will always have problems, no matter how good a screen is it's not meant for direct sunlight to be hitting it. It's better in the sun but don't expect perfection

How can anyone say the DS phat had better buttons? The Lites buttons stick out more, and you don't have to really press them all the way down - EVERYTHING about the lite is better than the phat, can't you people see?

The lite is in every single way better than the phat. Go to walmart or somewhere that they havea lite on display for you to play. The touch screen might be scratched up from too many idiots playing it, but after a minute of holding it and seeing it you'll know why you shouldn't have even asked this question and should already have the lite in your hands.ringbling

They break easier if you're a 4 year old and don't know how to take care of them. I got a white one the day they came out, then a black one when they came out. Gave the white to my brother, he hasn't broken anything on it and my black one is still in pristine condition, cause I know how to take care of my gadgets.

maybe it was just me becaus ei heard a while ago, someone droped theirs a couple feet on accident and broke the buttonseliteman24

Mine did fall off of my shelf once, a drop of about 3 or 4 feet and no damage whatsoever. I also do have a clamshell case around it so maybe that helps. I'd say in that situation it was just a matter of bad luck.

I completely agree with you.I had doubts too, but the upgrade was worth it.

I'd say go for it ONLY if you have the money. I did it, but thats because I sold my DS for $100, so I only had to pay $30. It is worth it, the screens are so much brighter and it isa ton smaller. It's your choice though. :)SkaterM80

Like he said, you should only get it if you have the money, I personally think it's not worth it.

I personally love my rugged old fatty. I feel like I'm going to break the Lite in half. The Lite looks better but if i was trying to impress chicks with my videogames, I'd have better things to worry about lol.
