I was just thinking about some new posibilities for new mario games and I got this idea of a side scrolling mario game just like the super mario advance series but with updated graphics. it would be a wii ware title. (that would be crazy, an 8 world side scrolling wii game for 50 bucks) I think this game would have a chance at selling more copies than its legendary ancester, The Super Mario Bros. Because of galaxy and all of the wiis being sold this game will have to make the charts.

The way gaming is now, I think an old school platformer doesn't really have a place on the console. Platformers don't need good quality graphics and only need maybe 2 buttons and a d pad. Having such a simplified game on the wii or any console would just make it look bad. Traditional platformers should stay on the DS and 3D world platformers like Galaxy should be one the consoles.

While I think it's a bit too soon to be thinking about another Super Mario game, the idea isn't a bad one. I actually think putting a side-scrolling platformer on a current console offers the potential of a gameplay experience that is extremely polished and accessible for everyone, perhaps even more so than Super Mario Galaxy, which is saying a lot. The challenge here is making a game that's has a great enough of a scale so that it justifies the price, but at the same time, doesn't draw itself out for too long. Things like this have to be considered to maintain a solid balance.

But yeah... that's a pretty good idea, and I hope it's one Nintendo considers in the near future.

SSBB much? It has an entire adventure mode that is pretty much a platformer, and while it's 3D graphics, it's 2D game-play. (2.5D, as they say)

Good idea but 50 bucks? 0_o A little much for something that is essentially a game we already played and loved. Love the concept though.

But not many people actually like that mode. (I know lots of reviewers didn't and I didn't either) We need a true Mario remake or even a sequel.

2D Mario side-scrollers for WiiWare? I approve... but I would actually like original games before an old-school 2D Mario.

I was actually thinking for the next Super Mario 3D Platforming game, Mario is in a real house. It will be like Galaxy, but with better graphics and he is really small, then there will be humans and he has to like dodge them when he is on a cake or something, then when he is in the sink and the water fills up he will have to run on the edges of the sink to get up. It would be really cool, but it's hard to imagine.

Yeah, it could be good, but you are exaggerating saying that it will sell that much. Kids nowadays don't like old style games.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that was sarcasm on sman3579's part.

I would prefer a new game as well. Mario's famous enough. His games are great. But how about let someone new come into play?
