... 5 minute Demo's for their Virtual Console games? Seriously, i haven't bought some games since May because i'm not gonna spend 800 points to get Alex Kidd (i haven't even heard of that game before). Before you say 'Just try it.', let's say you download a obscure game and hate it, then you'll hold on to your points much tighter. Do you agree or disagree on 5 minute Demos?gmc2u_64
You're kidding me right?
That would be a really good idea, it wouldnt be so hard just to give us a little demo to see what they are like.
I sort of thought of this system that they probably would never use, but you pay half price and you get the game for 3-4 days, after 3-4 days they send you a message to ask if you want to pay the other half and keep it, or if you dont want to and just return it (no refund). Sort of like renting.
Just one of those ideas i thought of in my 14 hour car trip last week.

He never heard of the game. Big Deal. I don't understand what is so hard about this. He is not at fault because he never played said game.

Nintendo wants you to accidentally waste your points on bad games. If they included demos, then no one would download the bad games and they would lose money. Notice how all the demos on Smash Bros were for good games? Why do you think that is so?

I've been gaming since PONG was a new-release console... and I've never heard of "Alex Kidd".
I'm sure the list of games I've played and you've never heard of would fill volumes.
ANYHOOOO, you should try looking at review sites like... I don't know... GameSpot or IGN.
There is even a Virtual Console review site you can look at.
EmilioDigsIt
Just because a game gets a good mark doesn't mean you'll enjoy it. Even the best review isn't capable of giving you the kind of knowledge of a game you get from playing it.

They also put videos up.
C'mon guys, it isn't difficult to research a game.
If you like game X, and game Y and Z are like it, research Y and Z to figure out which one will be better for you.EmilioDigsIt
Watching a game is not the same as playing it... which is perhaps why people don't like interactive cut-scenes and why no-one bought the Sega CD. ;)

I don't get why they don't have Wii demo's. They have DS demo's, but no Wii ones.GamerBoy53
If you're talking about retail Wii games, it's because there is no place to store them.

I'm talking about any game playable on the Wii, also including WiiWare and Virtual Console.ya its given there is a huge list of things Nintendo should and shouldnt do with the Wii. Besides in game demos what about the hassle of individual FCs, the lack of voice chat (and we all know Wii Speak will be weakly supported look at how few people talk on PS3 games then multiply it by 20), lack of proper storage, lack of third party support (getting much better though), lack of customization with the channel interface (i hate how everything has to be its own channel, have they ever heard of making folder channels for all those Wiiware and VC games), and so on.
Now I know some of these problems are dissappearing, but many are not and it does not look like they are going away.
VC demos would be more complicated than you think. With the Virtual Console are they're basically doing is taking the original game and running it through emulation software built into the Wii. Very little work is involved. Now demos would actually have to be made by the participating developers, often without the aid of any of the original crew that produced the game itself.
^ You might want to add simplyfying core franchises (making zelda more acessible=easier than TP).
gmc2u_64
Really they have not simplified or rather sacrificed core titles much. Thebiggest case would Mario Kart Wii and even that is not horribly bad. TP is probably the best adventure game this gen. If MP3, SMG, and LoZ:TP were simplified then nintendo should keep it up because those are some of the bestter games this gen on any system.

SMG, MP3 amd TP are not simplified, since the development of those games started before the release of the Wii
but now that Nintendo knows that casuals dig their games, they are now simplifiying their key franchises, Aonuma even said it himself in an interview

I'm talking about any game playable on the Wii, also including WiiWare and Virtual Console.Retail Wii Games: Lack of Storage
Nintendo wants Virtual Console and WiiWare games to be impulse purchases. This is part of the reason why they don't announce release dates ahead of time. They want you to go on the shop channel and go, "What the heck? I'll give it a try". They want you to waste your points on bad games. If they included demos, Nintendo would lose money.
It's not very difficult to research games online anyway. Many of us grew up in a time before you had the internet and millions of gaming magazines to tell you what to buy and what not to buy. You went to the store, read the box, paid your $50, and hoped for the best. Be happy you have the luxuries you do.
Or just think "This is too hard, I don't want to play it anymore", and thus stops buying games, and thus Nintendo doesn't make as much money from the casuals. Personally I think games have been too easy for the past 10 years anyway. Games these days seem to bel based around so-called "immersive experiences" for the gamer, and the challenges that video games presented through the entire 2D era, up until the 32/64-bit consoles have long gone.Raiko101
I'm not too sure games have been becoming less difficult. Rather I just think people are getting better at games. Just think back to your first time playing through classics like SMB3 or super mario world. Back then, I remember those games being crazy hard. Nowadays I'll blow through them in a couple hours as I have so much experience with them. And take FPS's. The controls and basic way of playing is very similar from game to game so your skills carry over to each new game, making them seem easier as your skills progress. Heck, I never played zelda a link to the past during the snes era and played it for the first time a couple years ago and thought it was an easy game. I'm sure if I would've played it back then I would remember it as being a hard game because I wouldn't have been as experienced with gaming as I am now.
And as for games that are meant to be "immersive experiences", I'm glad these types of games are around now. Sometimes I'd rather relax when I play a game rather than throw my controller through the tv when I lose 5000 times in a row.

True, if nintendo provided demos for games like China Warrior and Operation Wolf, then they wouldnt have even sold one.

What games have been lost quality. The only one that I can think of is Mario Kart Wii and that is still awsome. AC: City Folk was already simple. The problem with AC is it lacks change and innovation and instead of being a 9.5 game its an 8.0 game. Please name some franchises that are losing quality in the name of simplification?
ALso congratulations you are going with the crowd and hating Nintendo for one conference which is also a dying conference.

bingo, bandwith
^ Who cares if Nintendo loses a few million?! It would at least make them decent if they let us have demos. Last time i checked, Nintendo has Billions of Dollars, so they should start using this money to make good games and maybe invest into a harddrive and stopping being cheapskates.gmc2u_64
I think Nintendo cares that they'd lose a few million. They are not going to spend extra time and money to make demos for the hundreds of games on the shop channel, knowing that they will lose money off of it.
Nintendo is 100% a profit driven company. They run their business much different than Sony and Microsoft. As frustrating as it is for fans, it's something you have to accept.
