would the wii have been as successful if it were priced more?

now i know everyone proclaims that they love their wii...even their g/f. plus im fully aware that the price of the wii is a very accomodating investment for the average teen/adult, but what if it were priced @ a much steeper price? im pretty sure casual gamers would stagger on giving an extra $100 or so. but what if it were? do you think you would still buy it after realizing its revered "fun" capabilities, or just do without the machine???

i think they priced it perfectly

if it was $100 more, alot of ppl, including me, probably wouldn't buy it

i don't think it would be worth the extra $100

THe argument doesn't make much sense since Nintendo already makes a small profit on the system as it is.

If it was more expensive there'd be higher end pieces

If we're talking pretend then yes I would have no problem paying 600 dollars for my Wii but since we're also in a pretend world I'm going to guess that every single person in the world would own one as well.

I'd buy it. It might not be AS successful, but it'd still sell a lot.

Of course it wouldn't, people like cheaper things. As much of a nintendo fan as I am, price was a big factor in my purchase. I'm poor, don't know about you guys...

I don't believe the Wii would have been nearly as successful if it were priced higher. I know a few people that bought one because they felt that it was reasonably priced. Had it not been so, those few people would have never considered buying a Wii.

If it were priced closer to the other consoles, most would expect it to have a more powerful graphics chip in it.

It's already proved price does not mean affect the sales, ok so it does if you massively overprice, but if Wii was same price as the 360, it wouldn't effect it. Look at the Gamecube last gen, cheapest console, sold the least. Look at 360 in Europe, the core is cheaper than a Wii, sales are still the same.

Considering that the dollar is doing so poorly lately, $250 really means a lot more than that to many people, yet it still flies off the shelves.

On top of that, a lot of people are willing to buy Wiis on eBay for over $300, so I think it would still sell relatively well. Not as well as it has been, but I think it could still stay afloat.

Even though it wouldn't be as successful I would still buy it because I have gotten one hell of a bang for my buck with my Wii.

I dont think it would have been as sucessful if it was the same exact system for 350. I know i may have still bought it, but for that price, i would expect to get some higher end graphics. But i am happy with my Wii just as it is. it is the best system ive owned, and that stretches over 20 years of video gaming, and most every console, the wii is just plain fun.

If it were $300, I still would have purchased it, but if it were $350, I probably would have gone with a XBOX 360. But if the Wii had more powerful graphics then I probably would not have mind paying $350 for it.

I'd brought one if it £50 more. If it was any more i'd probaly gotten a PS3 and waited couple months too a price drop or i could pick up a 2nd hand Wii.

I think a lot of people have been encouraged to buy it because of the lower price point than the other consoles, especially at christmas time and such. I think the same package could have been a little more expensive and the people who were just excited for the next new nintendo console wouldn't have minded, but less people would take a chance on it.

If it was $100 more then I probably would've ended up with a 360 instead of a Wii

Hmmm if wii is priced at US$350 it would most likely have better hardware which most of people here would want but for the casuals i dunno. I still think it would still be successful. Many people bought wiis more than $250 off from Ebay because of shortage.

at $100, it wouldnt have done as well. you could choose out of a HD-playing 1080i xbox 360, or play lower res, more fun console. at this period for a while, things will increase, and upgrades will have to be made to suit better, so i would say 360 would be bought more than the wii

price is a big factor in the wiis success. price is one of the main reasons i bought the wii and one of the main things thats keeping me back from buying a ps3

i wouldnt say that the price of the wii was what interested me. it did however make buying it simpler. i was primarily sold on the control scheme and how it would translate into a heavly driven "joystick" industury. the wii definitely refreshed an age old tradition and (to me) thats something i can easily invest a few more dollars into. not to mention controlling link, samus, and mario like never before is just glorious! so yea, id fork out...

Brawl alone would've had me buy the console even if it were around 400$

I would still buy it, but many others wouldn't. So it would have been less succesfully, obviously.

would be... could be... should be... probably not, but does it really matter now?
