I was just thinking, say you're reading a book or something and you don't have a computer with online access nearby or you don't want to bother trying to find one. You also, for whatever reason, don't have access to a real dictionary or want to use one. A dictionary program for the DS would come in pretty handy. The touch screen is perfect for keying in words and scrolling through the definitions. If they released such a program and sold it for $15-$20 I'd buy it. I sometimes carry a pocket dictionary around with me and with this sucker on the DS, that'd be one less doo-dad for me to carry around at school. What do you guys think?

That's quite interesting, I would of never thought of that but I think its a great idea. Why carry around a bulky dictionary when you've got your DS? And finding words would be a breeze, type in a word and then there's your definition, no more flipping through hundreds of pages

Personally, no, I wouldn't really be interested in it.  Then again, I already graduated from university and can't remember the last time I looked up the definition of something ;)  I think the main problem with the dictionary idea is that if the dictionary is inserted into the DS, it means a game is not in the DS.  Additionally, the game-cards are small and can be damaged so it's not very smart to carry them around in your pocket, and if you carry them around in their case, well, that's almost the size of carrying around another DS! A DS with no game is no fun...  Therefore, I probably would have been better off spending the $20 (probably less by now!) for one of those electronic Franklin dictionary devices... or the $5 or whatever for a little abridged actual paperback dictionary.  Plus, there are plenty of free dictionaries on the web, and you can download them for free onto your phone or pda.

Why, yes, yes I would. I love vocabulary.  It would be awesome if every time you turned on your DS, it taught you a new word. IMAGINE THE POSSIBILITIES!!!

Thanks for the responses. I suppose to make it more appealing to everyone, maybe whoever develops it could add in a wordgame or two, like maybe anagrams, hang-man, and possibly a wifi -enabled game of scrabble.

If it was $10- $15 and perhaps had a mini game or two, then I would probably buy it.

YA if it was built in. But then you'd have to have the dictionary in everytime you wanted a new word...i still dont think that will work

How about a game where you can Go ONline and chat online O.o just saying..

I voted "no" because i wouldn't need it, yet i do think it is a pretty good idea, and not beyond the scope of what Nintendo would probably like out of the DS.

I don't think many people would buy it for a regular DS game price though.

i think that would be pretty cool, and you would have to hold the ds vertical too, like the way you actually open a book.
there should also be some word games on it, and a thesureus (sp).

and btw man, i giggled to myself when I read how you carry a dictionary around in your pocket. hehehe.

no more flipping through hundreds of pagesBlu_Falcon37

Which takes seconds if you know how to browse a dictionary properly.

For the amount of times I'm away from home and my real dictionary I can't ever remember needed one. That said the internet browser allows access for dictionary.com so if you had that and were somewhere with wifi it would be one less times you'de even think to want one.

Not a bad idea but I think it would flop because I don't think there's really a demand for one at all. Now if it were a dictionary/organizer with a built in notepad feature I'd be all over it.

That'll be cool cuz no need to flip all those pages or if it's an electronic dictionary, no need to take out the old fashion looking ones and take out ur cool DS!! Maybe they should include some definition of some game characters!! Or maybe even game info and you can also update it on wifi or something like that 0_0

No I wouldn't, I would do what I do now.....use my computer. Now I know you said if you wasn't around a pc with net access bla bla bla bla, but I DO have a computer and I DO have net access. I only read books at homes, so I will never have a issue of not having the net right there for me.

Everytime i need to look up a word I don't have a dictionary or pc near me so it would be very useful. I would definitely buy one, depending how much it cost.

I wouldn't buy one personally. But I can see how it could come in handy some times.

I don't think they would make very much money from it though.

Cool idea, but I personally wouldn't see myself using it.
