a short games (portal) ThePostalWorker
Agreed. Even though it's only a 19 level game, it has a high replay value with all the loopy things you can do with it. Wish it'd somehow be transfered to Wii so I could own it myself.
I dont care about the length of a game. I expect quality, and if it's short thats fine as long as it's well accesible and a great experience to game on.SilentCapybara
Same here
It all depends. Is the game only 4 hours but it's the best 4 gaming hours I've ever played in my 22 years of life? Then yeah, THAT game is fun. Usually though, I'm mostly dissapointed with games that I beat the first day I buy it. So it's fun...5 hours later, I'm bored and $50 broker.
The only way a game that's 6 or 8 hours long can be really fun is if it has some sort of strong replay value, like multiplayer options, secrets to unlock, or different modes of play (and I'm not talking about Time Attack...I don't want to beat the game even quicker!!).
I prefere long games, ones that take days or even weeks to beat. Those are the ones that usually suck you in, at least to me.
Why isn't long and fun a choice? When I drop $50-$60 on a game, I want it to last. I don't want to hand over cash for something that's over in a matter of a couple hours! If I want 6 hours of fun, I'll rent 3 movies, and still have money left over for a nice dinner for two. Sure some games may provide an un-adulterated burst of enjoymentcondensced into an amazing5 hours, but not enough games truly achieve that to warrant such a move and end up being simply short, end of story.
More over, although there is an undeniable sense of pleasure and achievement in beating a game, I find that both are determined by both the difficulty AND the length of the game. The sense of satisfaction I got from beating Heavenly Sword was nothing compared to when I beat FFX because of the greater time investment.
