Earlier today, I posted a topic about a dead pixel on my 3ds' upper screen. Later l realized that it wasn't so much a dead/stuck pixel, but a dust particle that got stuck between the screen and the plastic that covers it. I'm not quite sure if such a particle was already in there or if it entered after I got my console.

Here is where you come in. I would like to know what you would do if this happened to you. Take into account that there are a few things that are holding me back about sending my console in to Nintendo. These factors are the following; 1) The possibility of losing my data. 2) The possibility of missing out on the free eShop 'classic' download that will be issued the day the eShop opens and lastly 3) The hope that I can fix this at home without voiding my warranty with some common tool (like acan of compressed air).

Your suggestions are golden for me at this moment. Please post what you would do upon facing such a situation.

Thanks in advance...

Do you use screen protectors? If so, could be the dust be under the screen protector? Otherwise, call Nintendo and ask them about it. If it's something they cover, ask if they can transfer data to a new 3DS if they aren't just going to fix yours. If you do call them, tell them it has been there since you got it and that it's really starting to bother you. :P

Hah, yeah that's probably what I'll end up doing. Just in case I'll make the call after I download the Excitebike 3D freebie and hope for the best. Maybe send it in early in June hoping to receive it late on that same month in order to be able to play OoT :) Ohh and, no, I don't use screen protectors. I am going to order some HORI protectors along with OoT and some spare styluses. In case you wonder, I haven't broken the stock stylus, I just don't like taking it out alot for fear of it becoming loose from it's pocket(?) on the 3ds :)

Went back and reread the original post. Nevermind.
